ok, sorry... more specificly,my question is not about stereotypes or Christianity... is about saying we're all free, but because of your own freedom, to try to tease/mock/limit another person's freedom. i mean, how do these get together?

READ THE ABOVE!!! the skeleton is i'm just trying to get an opinion about the reality of what you think objectively about this. again, objectively. your opinion not about Christians and stereotypes and religion and all you might choose from this. about the connection that does exist between them. i can't explain it better:((

it's actually to say you have the freedom to hate/dislike someone because of their religion, even if religion itself is a proof of freedom.

for some people, freedom is only for those who agree with them-and stereotyping has two advantages-it ALWAYS supports their point of view, and it's easier than thinking

Not everyone stereotypes Christians, just small minded people.

One of my favorite authors, Isaac Asimov, was an atheist and I always respected his beliefs because I believe, from statements he made, that he respected my right to mine.

An Example from an interview:

*************

Asimov: I believe there's enough evidence for us to think that a big bang took place. But there is no evidence whatsoever to suppose that a superhuman being said, "Let it be." However, neither is there any evidence against it; so, if a person feels comfortable believing that, I am willing to have him believe it.

Kurtz: As an article of faith?

Asimov: Yes, as an article of faith. I have articles of faith, too. I have an article of faith that says the universe makes sense. Now there's no way you can prove that the universe makes sense, but there's just no fun in living in the universe if it doesn't make sense.

****************

General attacks on atheism make no more sense than general attacks on Christianity. Both are evil.

Don't let some of the so called "atheists" on Yahoo Answers color your opinion of atheists. There are actually some intelligent ones out there, even if you do have to look hard to find them.

PS: "I don't stereotype Christians. I dislike organized religion as a whole." Paraphrased, "I don't stereotype Christians I stereotype organized religion."

Everyone makes the occasional ridiculous comment and some people are so small minded they actually believe they can defend ridiculous generalizations like this. Most of us just roll our eyes and think to ourselves that we have to change our methods of communicating.

Even then sometimes people will refuse to understand your point no matter how many different ways you describe it.

PPS: Ohh, someone disagrees with me. Does that mean I have no right to an opinion? No right to answer?

No, it just means someone disagrees with me. why do people "freak out" over thumbs down? They think their opinion is "god-like"?

I don't stereotype Christians. I dislike organized religion as a whole. And the Christian movement has spent nearly 2,000 years persecuting people, and they continue to make persecution a priority today. It's time for it to stop.

So I hate the various churches, and I detest their spokespeople. I hate their behavior. But I have people in my lives who are religious and I love them dearly. That's not stereotyping, is it?

But when a Christian says that I can't be a good parent because I'm gay, THAT is stereotyping. See the difference?

It is sad to me that many do stereotype all of us.
They judge us all by the actions of a few.
If there is a "bad" or "crazy" person in your family, how fair is it for others to assume you are just as bad or crazy?
The principle is the same with Christians.
We are not all alike.
Most of us are great people who are kind, good, moral, etc.

They hate Christians for various reasons. Sometimes "Christians" are just plain weird, and self righteous. But it is often because their own deeds are dark. Remember, if they hate us, they first hated Jesus. If they hated Jesus who is perfect, imagine us, His followers, who are full of defects.

When Christians stop trying to force their faith into law I will listen to what you have to say.

As long as Christians use their own thwarted view of the world to control the rest of us, I am going to be vocal and working hard to point out their lies.

Nothing democratic about it. Christians are welcome to their faith, but they have no right to force it on the rest of us through legislation.

Christians have spouted hate and vitrol against non-Christians for centuries. They are just pissed that the rest of us refuse to be treated badly by them anymore.

I don't stereotype Christians. That you accuse everyone of doing so based on the actions of a few people means that you're stereotyping others.

I'm quite happy to attack any religion

At least where I live, there are no other religious groups attempting to force their doctrine into my government buildings, my son's high school and my laws.
When other religions start trying that I will oppose them as well.
Christians stereotype themselves...

Christians aren't the only one attacked.

If you want evidence of that, you don't need to look any further than this forum.
