Call up a vet. I doubt you should give your dog human medications.

If it has been going on for two weeks, you should call your Vet. That is too long and there could be a serious problem.
For the occasional loose stool, you can give your dog 100% pure canned pumpkin (NOT the pumkin pie filling with sugars and spices). Most dogs love the flavor of pumpkin, but it is a unique fiber that regulates the bowel. My dog weighs 37 lbs and I give her about 4 TBL, mixed in with her kibble when she has a loose stool. She eats twice a day, and I give her the pumplin for a couple of days. It has ALWAYS worked for us and my dog loves the pumplin.

Nope....you need to go to a vet. Immodium can be lethal in some dogs such as collie and asussies that have a double mutation of a mdr1 gene. Go to the University of Washington Vet website and check out the study they are doing on multi drug sensitivity in dogs.

Best thing to do is withhold food and then boil hamburger or chicken along with making rice that is very sticky. The vet can give you meds to stop the big d.
Another thing to mix with your dogs food is plain yogurt...it helps get the digestive tract back in shape.

My Vet says it is okay to give them Pepto Bismol. I have two tea cup chihuahuas and I give them about 1/2 a teaspoon. Works great. For a 50 pound dog I would think 3 teaspoons should do the trick. What really works great is if you take the top off of a squeeze water bottle and put it on the pepto bottle it makes getting it in their mouths a lot easier.

Kaopectate is ok for sure but definitely don't give it to your dog without seeing a vet first or at least calling to see how much you should give. Make sure the dog drinks lots of water. If you'd like, you can also give her some food that could help settle her stomach, such as Science Diet canned i/d, plain white rice, or plain yogurt.

when i our dog got parvo the vet told us to give her 1/2 tsp of pepto every 2 hours to keep the meds in her belly. i did and she got better with all the shots and meds and gatorade she does just fine. if your dog is 50 lbs u can give him/her a 1/2 tsp or tablet every 3 hours or until the stools stop . also switch is water bowl to gatorade and keep and eye on how much the dog drinks he could have a virus or the heat could be bothering the dog. good luck and hope this helps

I wouldn't suggest giving that to your dog unless a vet says it's ok. I would call up the vet clinic and ask them what can be done to help cure loose stools. They'll probably give you a suggestion or two.

Ask your vet..do NOT rely on answers from people here..they very well could give you the wrong info and it could result in serious harm, even death to your dog. Also it is ILLEGAl for anyone including a licensed vet/tech to give out drug info or doasage info to anyone without seeing the dog and doing an exam and/or knowing complete medical history.

I have an english bulldog and my vet says its ok to give her pepcid, not sure on how much you would have to give your dog that you would have to contact the vet. Try giving the dog chicken and rice for a little while, that should help harden the stool.

According to my vet you can give pepto, but what works even better is canned pumpkin. Plus my dog really likes it and you won't have to force feed the meds.
