As safe as it ever was.
Your childs seat (the first one anyway) should be a model that places the childs back towards the front of the vehicle.
If anyone over the age of ten insists that it is not safe, you should ask them how they survived this long.
You might want to buy a car, besides making the wife happy, it's easier than a truck with a family.

i will't answer the legality point of view - although call your close by police station (no longer the emergency kind) and that they'd desire to truly have the capacity to respond to your question. i do no longer think that's illegitimate, notwithstanding, as though this is a discern's in basic terms transportation i do no longer see how they'd say they could no longer transport their baby in it. From a secure practices point of view, she is truthfully suitable. Any baby decrease than the age of 12 years old is maximum secure in back seat. And a motor vehicle seat shouldn't in any respect be put in in a seat with an airbag except that's became off, notwithstanding it feels like that's no longer a situation. :) My dad and mom have an SUV and a pickup truck. the two 2000 fashions. My little sister (now 8, nevertheless using in a booster seat) does not journey interior the truck very frequently b/c that's much less secure. And while she replaced into smaller, she rode in it even much less. 20/20 did a record numerous years in the past approximately how pickup automobiles often did very poorly in crash checks and genuine existence wrecks. the front end is so short. so as that they are no longer the main secure for each individual, permit a lone a baby who's physique isn't as stepped forward as an person. Is there any probability you and your ex would desire to commerce automobiles once you have your daughter? If that's truthfully no longer a risk, and a commerce-in or 2nd motor vehicle or condominium is out of the money question (which I specific would comprehend!) then to me it would be extra substantial that your daughter get to spend time with you, and be sure you purchase the appropriate motor vehicle seat to your daughter and your truck. keep her in a 5 factor harness as long as a risk, its maximum secure. in the adventure that your truck does not have tether anchors put in, get it completed (some sellers do it for unfastened). ideally, she'd be using interior the back seat of a 2 row motor vehicle, yet genuine existence isn't appropriate and in specific situations you will desire to make the appropriate of what you have. If I have been the ex, i'd commerce my motor vehicle or pass alongside or supply a journey, even though it is not a suitable everlasting answer. For some appeasement of fears, I positioned a piece of writing in components approximately how easy automobiles do extra appropriate in crashes than little automobiles. If a easy truck is in an twist of destiny with a motor vehicle, the occupants of the vehicle fare worse than those interior the truck.

Well, you are both correct. The middle, backseat of a vehicle is the safest place for children. Since you do not have a backseat, then the only location is to place them in the front. You need to push the vehicle seat as far back as you can and strap the carseat in as tight as possible. While it isn't the most ideal situation b/c 95% of accidents are frontal or side impact, it is okay to put them there in your truck. I would still consider taking a different vehicle with a backseat. Also, make sure to have a car seat tech install your infant carrier! http://www.seatcheck.org or http://www.safekids.org

Yes, it is perfectly fine to place the child seat in the front if their is no airbag. You can do the same thing in a modern truck, you just have to turn off the airbag.
