Oregano (or-eg-ano) .. does anyone pronounce it Ore-ja-no? Is it correct to say it that way? Is it said with the j instead of g in a different language?

Should I change my pronunciation of it from Orejano to Oregano?

It's pronounced with a hard g since the g is followed by an a.

OREGANO (or-eg-ano) it is correct,/g/ got a soft sound, if you change it for /j/ strong sound, you say something totally different.
OREJANO in Spanish means: unknown origin -specially when talking about an animal: dog, cow, horse, etc.-

It's like your phonetic spelling or-eG-ano. I have never heard of it with a j sound. The only time I have ever heard it pronounced differently is the English vs American pronounciation. The only difference is or-eg-ano and or-e-gano

It's pronounced "or-ray-gone-oh." No..you can't just say it with the j instead of a g for a different language. That's kind of insulting...it's probably a whole different word in a different language.

In English we would say o-re-gano. I suppose the other way would be what you might say in Spanish.
