In all likelihood, you are having an allergic reaction to the henna. There are hennas (black henna) that should not be used because of the high incidence of reactions but they are still out there because they seem to last longer.
I think you should seek medical attention - you want to prevent scarring. There is also a small risk you are developing a secondary staph infection. Keep it very clean in the meantime and don't scratch or pick at it.

Henna can't cause an infection on its own since it doesn't break the skin. You could have an allergy to it, and if you've been scratching it, you could get an infection from that.
If you still have the instructions from the henna, read it and see if there are directions for removing it that doesn't require exfoliating (that will just aggrevate the skin more). If it doesn't, keep it clean and put some benedyrl lotion on it. That will stop any surface level reaction. Only put benedryl on if you haven't broken the skin. If the skin is broken, or the benedryl isn't helping you should probably see a doctor.

It can't get infected, because it is on top of the skin--just a pigment and not a tattoo. There was no wound to infect.
If it was an allergic reaction, it would have most likely started right away--and it's extremely rare to be allergic to henna. Take some Benadryl and it should go away if it's just a reaction. If it stays for more than a couple more days, go to a doc. But the Benadryl should help, it got rid of my hives a few years ago.
If it was Black Henna you tried, that's a serious problem--Blach Henna is just hair dye and can cause major problems for you. If this was BH, you need to go to the doctor right away. http://www.hennapage.com/henna/ppd/index.html

some people are allergic to henna - it sounds like you've had a reaction to it. I'd go to the doctor's incase it scars.

Take some rubbing alcohol, and put it on the wounded area, just in case it actually is infected.
I would reccomend getting a fragrance free, lotion, for sensitive skin. Like Eucerin, Daily Replenishing lotion, apply when you wake up and go to bed.
If it is still there after 4-7 days go to the doctor, and see if it is infected.
