Fruit Salad

1 ( 14 oz.) can fruit cocktail, drained
1 red skinned apple, cored and cubed
1 big ripe banana, cubed
1 cup seadless grapes
1 ( 8oz.) can mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 pt. whipping cream, whipped stiff
Half of 14 oz. can condensed milk

1. In a big serving bowl, flod condensed milk into whipped cream, fold in rest of ingredients: blend and chill until serving time.

Variation: Fruit Salad with Cooked Salad Dressing-- omit whipped cream and condensed milk from above recipe and use the following;

1. Combine pineapple juice, flour, salt and sugar in a saucepan, cook stirring over moderate heat for 3 tp 5 minutes or until mixture thickens. Stir in milk and butter, remove from heat. Slowly stir in 1/4 cup of hot pineapple mixture ( 1 tbsp. at a time blending well after each additon) to beaten yolks. Pour back mixture to rest of pineapple juice. Return to heat and continue stirring over low heat for about 5 minutes. Let cool. Combine with fruits, blend and chill until serving time.

Preparation time for fruit salad: 20 minutes plus chilling time
Cooking time for cooked salad dressing: 15 minutes

An important ingredient is fruit. Usually chop it up and place in a bowl, but do add some lemon juice to keep it fresh and apples, etc from oxidizing

Cut up some honey dew melon, add grapes, add mandarin oranges, add cubed apples. Toss with some lemon juice (keeps fruit from browning), sugar, and maybe a hint of citrus vodka, or clear Rum. Cover. chill in fridge at least one hour. Serve with some crusty bread on the side.

Go to the store and select the fruit you want to use. once home, wash and cut up the fruit into bite sized pieces, if not already bite-sized. Place the fruit in a bowl and enjoy.
Some good fruits might be watermelon, or any melon for that matter, strawberries, pineapple, apples, pears, grapes, berries, etc. Basically any fruit you want.

Basic ingredients are:
Strawberries, green grapes, watermelon, cantelope, blueberries and pineapple. Cut fruit to desired size and mix all together. Great if made and eaten the same day. You can also add other fresh fruit that you like and omit other fruit that you don't like.

I usually just use strawberries, grapes, blueberries, apples, & bananas. But I don't put the bananas in until later or right before I take it somewhere b/c they will turn brown & look gross. The fruit makes it's own juices.

it's super easy, you just take whatever fruit you want and toss them together,
if you have larger pieces like apples/pears/melon... you can chop them to bit sizes
i often serve mine in a watermelon basket- i'm crafty in the kitchen
cut your watermelon to look like a basket then carve out the flesh to use in the salad. add your mixed fruit and serve...
if you have extra melon you can always soak it in rum or flavored vodka for the grown ups to enjoy later on in thier drinks or as a snack

just a tip... if you use melons use a fruit baller thingie. you can make a couple different size balls & they look nice. if you have kids it's a fun job for them to make the melon balls. otherwise, just cut up different fruits, make sure they are bite size. through in some grapes or berries which you don't need to cut. cut strawberries in half, not little pieces. don't use frozen fruit, it gets mushy, use fresh!!!

Cut up fruit, mix it all up.

For a treat, I sometimes add some sugar free vanilla or banana pudding. (mixed according to package directions)
OR
If I'm invited to dinner at a friends and I want to bring a dish, I sometimes add some rum or Hennessey's to it.

can't make this any easier for you, go to the market and buy a bag of frozen mixed fruit, whatever size and a tub of cool whip.
wait for fruit to thuroughly thaw (very important)
place on paper towel to soak up excess water, place in bowl mix in cool whip - poof you're done
