If you look at the war in Iraq in a sensible way you could understand the reason for being there. if we let iraq become another vietnam (pulling out ) then we are opening ourselves
to an invasion of our own shores by extremeist.. we are better off fighting there than here.
Have we as Americans come so far as to believe that we
can't be invaded here in the USA. And have we become cowards afraid to fight for what we have here in America and the freedom of our children.

People forget 9/11 and think that the some what lacking new measures of security we have will keep them from attacking us here on our soil. Just give them time to get their act together and we'll see more attacks here in the USA.

Sure sounds like you as a human are not of American decent. We need to pull out of Iraq and defend our own Great country and protect our safe being. The true Americans I know are not cowards and we do believe that some day an attack on America could happen and we will be here to defend our flag and country in full force,The ol'saying goes don't mess with the U.S.

"then we are opening ourselves to an invasion of our own shores by extremeist.. "

Well then, if that is what you are concerned about, you should ask you buddy Bush why he isn't securing our ports and borders to ensure that they can't get in....coyotes on the Mexican borders are now helping people from the Middle East because they pay more.....THAT doesn't concern you?

"Have we as Americans come so far as to believe that we
can't be invaded here in the USA. And have we become cowards afraid to fight for what we have here in America and the freedom of our children."

I don't recall Iraq doing anything that prevented my or my child's freedom. I know that President Bush is slowly chipping away the Constitution in the name of the "War on Terror"...

High five on that Patriot Act and his new Executive orders.

I cannot, for the life of me, find any reason for being in Iraq. The Iraq "war" was a pipedream of our dear president Bush. What his motivation was, I have no idea. All I know is that Iraq was more stable under the command of Saddam. I know that the Middle East was more stable until Bush started this "war". Why didn't he go after Osama? I won't get into all of that.

Where do you get the idea that Americans are cowards and afraid to fight? How are our children more free under the current, misguided administration? And yes, I must be naive because I do not think we will ever be invaded here. How, in your opinion, do you think invaders would ever get close to our shores? Do you think we would just sit back and say "Oh no, here they come..."?

Americans are not cowards. I hate these damn republican views. This is exactly why we're in the predictament we're in now. All this distorted thinking.... It all disgusts me.

During Vietnam, American civilians' cowardice was sold as, "Conscience."
Today, the left is up to their same, old tricks, obfuscating the real threat that Islamic fundamentalism poses to an open society like ours. The left uses the valid belief that we cannot be successfully invaded militarily, to distract us from the inconvenient truth that our enemies will move in and take over, attacking us from within, where we are critically vulnerable.
Imagine American school buses being exploded or stores or apartment buildings.
We must strike hard overseas to avoid becoming an embattled state at home like Israel is.
The left should be aware that if they get their way and weaken the resolve of our government, Islamic Fundamentalists WILL begin striking here in America and once the situation reaches critical mass and outraged Americans take the country back, no distinction will be made between the Islamic fundamentalists and those who opened the door for them. You were warned.

We believe that the war in Iraq is doing terrible damage to our country. Would you have us be silent?

During Vietnam, we heard the same sort of line, we were told that if we didn't fight them there, we would have to fight them here. We lost Vietnam to the communists, and no invaision happened.

This situation is different, because we have been attacked. The question for me is: will the war in Iraq stop another attack? I believe the answer to that is no. From what I hear, we have turned Iraq into a training ground for our enemies. For example, the recent bombing at a political rally in Pakistan, the bombers learned how in Iraq.

I think it would be better to go after the terrorists than to try to occupy whole countries where the majority of people are innocent.

No, we are not cowards, we just want results for our country's sacrifices. Iraq goes on and on, no end in sight, no victory over our enemies in sight. Our country deserves better than that.

I will not stop protesting as long as my country continues to get less than the best.

I'll agree you sound confused. If one looks at the Iraq occupation in a sensible way one can understand we invaded under false pretenses and upset a stable situation where we had Saddam boxed in to the point where he was no threat to anyone. We're not 'fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here'. We're fighting them there because WE'RE there and that makes 'em mad enough to fight. If we leave tomorrow they're not following us home.

Perhaps the "Invasion on our own shores by extremeist"(should be extremists) is what the Vietnamese and Iraqis though the U.S. was to them. Perspective is needed on your part my simple friend.
If the U.S. would stop trying to police the world and worry about their own problem then perhaps other countries would not despise them so much. Remember, 9/11 was the first foreign attack on continental U.S. soil. The U.S. has been attacking other countries for years. Perhaps a taste of their own medicine will help them realize that it's not right to try to impose will and terror upon other people because their views don't work for you.

It is American to protest, it is American to stand up for what is right and tell the government it is wrong (again). Vietnam was a terrible mistake and Vietnam today is very westernized. None of the hysterical doomsday consequences happened after we left Vietnam. Communism did not grow and the Soviet Union fell.

Our constitutional civil liberties are being stripped away, and while that may not bother you I will fight and protest for your rights as well as mine. This is suppose to be a government of the people not of corporate america.
