NOTE: When I say "sleeve tattoo", I mean a full arm sleeve.

Also when I say "quickest" I mean quickest time for a carefully done, very detailed design.

it is entirely possible to get a full sleeve done in one sitting. there aren't many tattoo artists who would be willing to do that but it is POSSIBLE. one instance where i can think of an artist definitely doing a marathon session is at a tattoo convention. my dad's artist actually did a full backpiece tattoo on a guy during a three day tattoo convention. it took 27 hours total to do but it won best tattoo for the convention. also it depends on an artist's speed and your own endurance. if you don't need to take many breaks and your artist is fast it'd go all the faster.

Time Tattoo Sleeve

Depends a lot on the kind of art.

I have a sleeve that took at least 10 sessions (of minimum 2 hours each of actual tattooing happening).

It will take longer if :
1) the designs are more "original"/unique
2) It requires any realism, or lots of layering/belending of colors

Among the quickest would be the "traditional" Japanese designs....they start off on "autopilot" with fairly conventionalized images. Each step of the way is relatively "obvious." It's easy to know where it is "going", and the work gets done fast.

Too hard to answer because there are many factors to it. Detail, color, etc.
My husband is working on a half sleeve. They are just doing the detail now but after 2 hours of work outlining there is a long way to go. Then all the color. He is doing multiple sittings, partly due to time and partly to cost. His is extremely detailed though.

Depends on the complexity and the amount of colour.

Mine's is just black and it took just over an hour.

You don't want to rush a tatt.

Depends on the intricacy of the design and colors/shading. You'll need to plan on several visits.

I'm about to get my first sleeve done next week. I'm going for a geometric dotwork and line work style. Been told it may take 4-5 8hrs sessions. Remember this is for LIFE! Don't take the cheapest and fastest options.
