I would advise against that. It never hurts to wait to get a tattoo.
It will be a part of your body forever, and I think that everyone should wait at least a year before they get a tattoo. Things change for people. I wanted to get a tattoo when I was fourteen and my parents forbid it, thank god. I would've regretted those tattoos forever. I got my first tattoo after I turned 18, an I love it. I'm so glad that I waited.
I love your name, it's what I'm going to name my baby if it's a girl.
::fingers crossed::

I know you're probably tired of hearing it, but you will regret getting a tattoo at such a young age. No one remains the same person they are when they were 14, and while you might love music and never outgrow that love, what happens if you don't like the actual tattoo you get? Or what if you want want a job later on that has very strict codes of conduct that require no visable tattos (yes its on your shoulder but what if its very hot and you want t wear a sleeveless shirt? Or It reguired going to formal events? Your picks for formal gowns will be severly limited.)
There there immediate problems. At 14 you're probably in the 9th grade. High schoolers aren't exactly known for being open minded and forgiving about differences and something like have a tattoo at such a young age could mean you get labeled some pretty nasty things that you don't deserve. Don't think it won't happen to you or that your school is different. I've seen it happen to a perfectly lovely girl who got a relgious tattoo as a sign of her faith when she was young. It's not just students. There are some pretty narrow minded teachers and administators out there.
For the time being you're probably better off find other ways to express youself. Non permenet ways like jewelery, clothing, activities. Let your actions speak for now and leave the tattoos for later. Why not wait and get the tattoo when you graduate high school if you still want it? Let it be a celebration of completing a difficult stage in life and suriviving adolesence. Besides, what would have been a hindrence in high school will be a conversation starter in college. College students are far more accepting of marks of indivuduality.

I'm not going to try to discourage you, but you should rethink what you are getting and where. I'm thinking that later on down the road you will want more ink, and maybe this time it is something large and something you can keep adding to. Your musical note is more of a stand alone tattoo and you want to put it somewhere that would be better for a larger, more complex piece of work. Your ankle might be a better location. I don't think you'll regret your musical note, just the location. Thats jus my opinion. I like tattoos that flow, not just having an 8 ball a few inches from a skull, which is a few inches from a rose, which is a few inches from Popeye, which is a .....

I wanted to get a tattoo when I was fourteen and my parents said if I still like the same one a year later that I could, after that year I still wanted the same tattoo so I convinced them to let me get it. I too put mine on my shoulder, I got a cross with a rose wrapped around it (which I drew the rose). Since it is on my shoulder I don't really see it much and don't have a chance to get sick of it, therefore I do not regret getting it. Except now I am getting married and I had to find tattoo coverup makeup for that, because I think that tattoos look trashy for a wedding that is the only reason why I regret it, so that just gives you something to think about, and will you still like it down the road, I have had mine for 6 years now and still like it. Hope that helps

I am 29 now, and I got my tattoo when I was 21. It's like a chain of flowers wrapped around my left arm, halfway between sholder and elbow.
It still looks pretty, no stretching or fading, but if I could turn back time I probably would never have done it. I work at the bank now, so I have to make sure my sleeves are long enough to cover it. Plus, my old bf loved it, but the new one is not so crazy about it :)
So, my advice: wait little more, you are still too young. If you decide to get a tattoo, make sure it's in the right spot. And try to choose subtle, not too dark colors.

I personally think 14 is about 4 years too young for a tattoo. If my 14 year old came up to me & asked about getting one, he'd be put in his place real quick like and wouldn't even think about asking for one again. Now, when you're 18, you're old enough to make your own decisions & if you still want the little music note on your shoulder, go get it, but I would wait. Right now you may think it's something you wouldn't regret, but you never know. I would wait, yes it's a bad idea for you to get one when you are only 14

most if not all tattoo shops will not tattoo any one under the age of 18 because its too much of a liability. even with your parents consent. a music note would be nice if it signified something special to you.... but give it another 4 years like the rest of the world had to and see if you still want it. tattoos are permanant and something you will live with for the rest of your life. wait till your old enough to get one without mommy and daddys help. it will mean way more too if you just waited... im sure its just a part of trying to be "cool'' right now. and it will stretch if you grow and be distorted...

I'd say just wait a few years. 14 is really young to be getting a tattoo. I'm not saying to wait all the way until you're 18, but maybe 16 or something.
And, the fact that you asked this question shows me that there is some doubt in your mind. So, wait a few years. Nothin wrong with that.

It seems like you want a tattoo now, but trust me, even if you say you won't regret it, you will. I used to think I wanted one really badly, but now I'm soo glad that I didn't. I'm 17 and I still think i'm never going to get one. It just seems stupid. It's going to be on you forever, and in a few years you'll end up not liking it anymore, and what are you going to do about it?

umm.. wow 14 is VERY young for a tattoo and you WILL later regret it no matter what you say now. Your life can change and you'll start to regret it.. and sometimes when you get tattoos, they can get infected and stuff... and yeah, when your older and your skin gets all wrinkly, imagine how the tattoo you got looks then?!?!!?
