You will have to pay, they will wonder why you gave it away and then decided you wanted it again and may not trust that you really want to keep it or take good care of it. If you really love the kitten and want it back and are going to give it a good home then have a friend go in and get the kitten, that way you might not have to pay, but you should give a donation at least, theyv'e probably dewormed it and gave it it's shots and that costs them money, fair is fair right. Good luck and if you were meant to have this kitten you will get it back. Good luck

Every shelter is different - you would have to call and ask..
why did you give it up in the first place?? typically unless you have had a radical change of situation where now you are suddenly a capable owner - they will not give you back the cat - and even then you would likely have to pay some sort of fee to go towards the cost of care they have provided...
I would say that if you are concerned with paying - you are not ready to have this, or any other, kitten.

Once you sign over the cat, it is the property of the SPCA. THey CAN choose to let you take it back, but that is not normally done. Generally, they will test, vaccinate, worm, and alter the kitten before it is offered for adoption. So letting you take it back for free after that does not make sense does it.
They may not even let you adopt it back. I work at a cat shelter and we usually do not let people adopt them back, since they gave them up in the first place.

Well, I guess the only way to know for sure is to ring and ask them. If they have undertaken some medical things on behalf of your kitten, such as worming, fleaing and de-sexing, they may expect you to make a contribution. It will probably depend on how long they have had the kitten in their care. Give them a call and ask.

I used to volunteer at our local humane society. If you relinquish a pet you can reclaim it within a certain amount of time with no charge. If, however, they have administered shot or any other medical care they may charge you a nominal fee. Give a quick phone call first. They will be happy to give you some info.
Good Luck!

Why did you give your cat away? If they give it back to you, you should have to pay or it. They had to care for it, and you are taking away from their much needing funding.

You gave it up once... they won't give it back.
They shouldn't even let you pay to get it back... but they will.
