There are programs that give grants to Vets and family members, when I decided to go back to school I looked into these but did not use them I had applied for the Pell grant and received it. Look at sites like RecruitMilitary.com and militaryhire they may have some links that will help. Good Luck in your endeavors to go back to school.

Like Jeeper-peeper said, you can not at any time use the GI bill. Currently the military does not give this as an option. Sorry...but you may qualify for some scholarships for spouses. I don't know about being a vet spouse, I know you can for active duty spouse. www.thanksusa.org has lots of fin aid so check to see if you qualify for it or not. The VA also doesn't give money to spouses. I have looked into it all believe me I am a active duty spouse as well as a full time college student. That is why it is important for the active duty member to use the GI bill. Hello...it is basically a FREE college education for the service members. All they pay is books. You would have to be an idiot to not take advantage of that!

Ok, contrary to previous posters, your husband can NOT sign his GI bill over to you.
The Army tried a 6 month test of allowing the GI bill to be assigned to the spouse or children back in 2004.
They canceled the program after 6 months.
There are no VA educational benefits available to the spouse or children of veterans, unless they were killed in action or disabled while on active duty.
But, some Colleges and Universities do have Tution breaks for Military spouses, ive never heard of one offering them to the spouse of a veteran though.
Like everyone else, you would be eligible for Federal Pell Grants, and some states have State Grants much like Pell Grants.
Also many veterans groups offer Scholorships to the spouses and children of veterans.
Amvets, VFW, etc, along with Unit Associations.
Such as the 101st Airborne Division Association, 82nd Airborne Division Association.
Most units have associations, and all it takes to join, is your husband having served with the unit at one time.

He can sign over his GI Bill benefits, but you won't be eligable for the full amount. There are several groups that offer scholorships to military spouses, but I don't know if that includes the wives of vets (it may depend on where your husband served and for how long). Many colleges offer tuition breaks for military members and thier spouses, so you can always check to see if that would apply to you as well,

Quite probably, but you'd need to talk to a VA benefits counselor. There are so many variables relating to different programs that apply to veterans of different time periods, disability status, and such that I doubt anyone here could figure it out.
One thing I CAN say for sure is that those who answer with a flat "no" are incorrect.

He can sign over his GIBll to you like someone else said. That being said though...when I was looking into that for myself I found out that the money can't be signed over until the service member has been in for 6 years. I'm not sure what the rules are for someone who has gotten out though.

He can sign over his GI Bill to you. Not sure of the exact process, I recommend talking to your nearest education officer and VA representative.

The non-military spouse isn't eligible. You don't deserve it anyway just becasue you married a vet.
