General Information
Not FDA approved for use in veterinary medicine, but it is a common and accepted practice to use aspirin in dogs. Available over the counter. Used in dogs for pain relief from overused muscles or arthritis and joint disease, including hip dysplasia.
Usual Dose and Administration
Dogs: 5-15 mg/pound by mouth every 8-12 hours. Duration of treatment depends on response to treatment and reason for treatment. Give with a small amount of food to decrease the risk of ulcers forming.
Sometimes people do use it, but it really is not recommended by most vets.....please consult with a vet before administering any medications

You can call the vet and ask them. If you are planning on using long term, then they may want you to take Bufferin instead of aspirin because it will be easier on the stomach.
They will be able to give you the correct dosage based on the weight of the puppy.
There are many human drugs that are also used on people. But any drug you give your pet should be cleared through the veterinarian first so that you can give the correct dosage.
Hope your pup feels better soon.

If you aren't comfortable giving Rimadyl then ask your vet for a different pain med..there are several very good and much safer ones out there..Metacam, Tramadol, Previcox to name a few. While Rimadyl is not the safest of drugs to give it is not bad if used on a very short term (no longer then 7-10 days on that note I personally don't like Rimadyl and we don't carry it or recommend it at the hospital.
Do NOT give asprin to your puppy/dog without consulting with your vet first and getting the proper dosage for yopur particualr dog.
While asprin is considered safe for most dogs/puppies it isn't for all and should never be given except on advisement from your vet.

So why arent you taking the vets advice again?????
Rimadyl is a great antiinfam and pain killer, this drug is used for so many muscular and arthritic pain, so if the vet prescribed it .......USE IT, dont go puss y footing around with other meds that you dont have a clue about, if you dont want to give your dog the Rimadyl, well then go back and get another drug off the vet that will do the same job, no point in conplaining here, if you have already ignored vet advice.

Rymadil treats the pain. It is OK to give a puppy rymadil.
Don't give a dog aspirin! Only give the dog, DOG drugs, not people drugs.
You need to listen to your vet!

If your puppy is still on "puppy formula" food start her on adult formula for large breed dogs. Research shows that puppy food contains too much protein for large breed dogs & tends to cause joint problems because they grow too fast.
Try her on Glaucosamine/Condrotin to see if that helps with her discomfort. It is normally for older dogs with arthritis but may help your puppy's joints and certainly won't hurt her. You could up the dose of baby aspirin but I wouldn't change it to regular strength without the okay from the vet. Also try and limit her activity, such as keeping her off stairs and limit her running around....keep to slow walks for a week or two.
Good luck...

You said "can't stand watching her limp". I think the vet knows what he is doing. If he prescribed Rymadil then give her the medication he gave you.

NO NO NO! Asprin can be fatal to dogs. A baby asprin in older dogs is ok, as long as it's only one a day, adult asprin is not. They're are some human meds that can be given to dogs, asprin is not one of them. You can find conversion charts online in accordance to their weight, they usually can tell you what is and isn't safe. Hope this helps!

No, you don't give human drugs to a dog, what the hell! You want to help your puppy try to massage where she's limping VERY gently.
