When you have opened a can of food and you're not using all the food straight away, empty the food into a bowl, or other container, and put it in the fridge.
Don't store food in an opened tin can, or re-use empty cans to cook or store food. This is because when a can has been opened and the food is open to the air, the tin may transfer more quickly to the can's contents.
This advice doesn't apply to foods sold in cans with resealable lids, such as golden syrup and cocoa.
(In my opinion if your going to use the rest of the contents in the next day or two it would be ok... And if the can has never been opened and you want to chill the contents before serving you wont get metal taste. I do this with canned fruit.)

strictly speaking...NO
its safer to remove to a ceramic/glass etc bowl .
the lining could be scratched or breached by the opener and its not good stuff to be having near edible food.
theres a new warning out re the contamination of canned foods. by the chemical lining! it is more than 4 times the safe level for whatever chemical it is that is leaching.
add that to microwaving in a plastic bowl etc...and maybe? thats another reason so many of us are getting crook?
and i love my b/beans too, such a pain to actually bake your own..but it can be done!
ever left a can of pineapple for say 3 days... look at the can and see the acid eating the edges..bit scary! tastes like tin too...yuuuk!

if you only plan to leave them in the can for a day or so it's not going to ruin them. i have done it for up to 3 days and the contents tasted fine. it it better to put it in a gladware or tupperware type container but you should be ok
covering it is a good idea

No because of the metal the can is made of will make your food taste like metal.

Probably not. You should put it in another container and cover it. plus cans can be sharp if you aren't careful.
