what else can I provide him with (indoors) to satisfy his need to dig and bury? Sometimes he hides it under the couch, but I don't think he's happy with that because usually he walks around with the bone, crying and whining, and only puts it under the couch as a last resort! Please share any ideas that you may have that will simulate his natural need for this type of activity. Thanks in advance!

Fox Terriers like any other kind of terriers are diggers ans you should know. I'm not sure what you can do to satisfy his natural urge because even if you do give him a designated area dogs often don't remeber this and think that they are being given the OK to dig anywhere. The best way to stop digging is to prvide other forms of stimulation. Teach your dog a new trick, go for walks in diffrent places, stuff a kong with peanut butter and throw it around the house! Give your dog lots of attention and when he does dig say no in a firm strong voice. Hope this helps!

It's normal for him to do that. All dogs try to bury their things with their noses. They are saving the bone for later, or hiding it from someone.

Most of the time, they forget where they put it. He's having fun and acting normal to me. I wouldn't worry about it. There are a lot of other things with dogs to worry about, like fleas, diseases, biting etc. This normal behavior isn't anything to fret over.
