Having read another story of another baby who died because they were forgotten in the back seat in this summer weather and then was found dead.

I thought of a simple idea as a reminder, Using a velcro strip through a pacifier, we fasten it on the steering wheel, to make absolute certain that we would never forget that beloved baby when our minds were elsewhere.

What do you do? Our lives are so busy these days, it is amazing how we can forget the most important things in our lives.

You know, I don't think the other posters are right. I feel very strongly that I could not forget my child in the backseat. HOWEVER, I am positive the people that did leave their child in the backseat felt the same way. It's obviously not planned. You never know how hectic your life is going to be. It scares me that everyone on here thinks it can't happen to them, and that's probably why it does happen!

So whereas I would like to say it would never happen, that wouldn't stop me from taking precautions!

I hadn't actually thought about it. I've never forgotten they were there for a second and can't imagine it happening. However, that's not to say that it won't happen. My kids are usually mucking around with each other or making noise or sleeping and we don't have a big car so its not hard to miss them. I'm a stay at home mum so whereever i go they go, so if one wasn't there i would know straight away.
I'd be more worried my hubby would forget one of them as he is not so used to being somewhere with them alone.

Actually the peace and quiet would remind me the kid wasn't with me!

You know some people are very into their jobs as important as our jobs are. But take my wallet before I leave I all ways path by wallet to make sure I have it, so put in you head baby in car, baby in car. I can not leave the baby in the F'n car. I don't think people do it on porpoise but at some point baby comes to mind and maybe just maybe calling the day care would help, hey did I drop off my kid? Or if your unsure go look and see Fock the job, the baby is more important

I dont know how it is possible to forget a child is in the car with you. I have never forgotten my child is in the back seat. I dont know maybe I am just more responsible or something. In my opinion, if you cant remember you have a child in the backseat, you are unfit to be a parent.

Put one of their toys in the front seat with you, if you need a reminder. Before getting into your car, you should always check the back seat. Before exiting your car, you should always check your back seat. Make it a habit so that a sleeping child is not forgotten.

I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine forgetting my child unless I had severe mental problems or just absolutely wanted to get rid of my children to begin with.
My children are 8 and 11 and never forgot they were in the car. They were too precious to forget (and they still are)

I don't really see how anyone could forget, but we have a second rearview mirror that's just for watching the kid. I can't back up or check my mirrors without seeing her.
