There are many churches that are in former retail spaces. In areas with rapid growth, it isn't always feasible for a church community to raise funds and build a traditional structure. From what I learned from the church community, the structure is less important than the people and they are happy with it.

Non-traditional. For some reason more churches are built in old buildings.

The "church" of Christ is not a building--it is a body of people. It doesn't matter where you meet to worship. So, yea, Starbucks would be great.

The church is the body of believers, not the building they go to. "Where two or more are gathered in My name, there I will be among them." Two or more people could meet to praise God at a construction site, in a park, in a mobile home, or whatever, and that makes it a "church."

The church would be far better off with home churches of no more than 50 people.

It's the message, not the location.

Wherever people will worship God the best and follow him and his word. The building or no building at all does not matter as long as they gather to truly worship God.
