First off their is only one Catholic Church no such thing as off shoots.Your either Catholic or your not. Second their is only one bible given to you from the Catholic church (Early Church Fathers)..
The differences are to much to list here.
Comments like these about the Catholic church come from people who have no idea what the Catholic Church believes and why. The catholic church is the mother of harlots mentioned in Revelation. They pray to Mary they do this and they do that. Its just out of ignorance and in some cases hate/bigotry.
If you truly want to see what the differences are go to this site its simple to undestand.

it is indeed somewhat different from Catholicism.

pentecostals have a wide variety of denominations as opposed to one. as mentioned by an earlier answerer, there are the trinitarians and the oneness pentecostals.

some common ground could be found between catholicism and the trinitarians. in terms of the basic nature of God.

however, the oneness pentecostals believe Jesus is God. and the son aspect is kind of a moot point they keep referencing. also, the oneness churches generally believe catholics are going to hell for not being baptized specifically "in Jesus' name" (as opposed to in the name of the father, son, and holy ghost). the concept of the trinity is rejected and thought of as almost blasphemous to this guys.

not to mention the biggest difference in both branches: speaking in tongues. you've never seen such stuff. these ppl jump around, scream out stuff, and some person "interprets" it. it's complete and utter insanity.

not really a whole lot of common ground there. nope... lol.

Easy to answer my Friend,

Pentecostals and all Protestant and Jesusonian groups

1. have no "Pope" = "spiritual Father"

2. do not worship Mary, falsely called "The Mother of GOD"

When good Catholics abandon doing the above, they often do join a Pentecostal church which has an open attitude for different forms of "rampant emotionalism". Others become "personal religionists" and have a Home-Family worship group. "Priesthood of all Believers."

P,S. I do work with many good Catholics and Pentecostals in promoting God's will of Pro-Light and Life here worldwide. I just disagree with any defective Theology.

GOALS, not mere CREEDS, will eventually help unite all religionists ! Example: Promoting worldwide morality over godless immorality which causes terrible wars, AIDS, despair, suicide, etc. Count the cost.

Peace and progress,

Pentecostal groups as known: They dont pray to Mother MAry or any other Saints as a mediator, but Catholic does it. That itself is a BIG DIFFERENCE

Theirs two types of pentecostals, Oneness & Trinitarian:

Neither are like catholics at all. Trinitarian pentecostals believe in the Trinity like catholics but thats about it.
Oneness Pentecostals/ Apostolics like me DO NOT believe a Trinity, we only believe in One God who is Jesus Christ. God manifest in flesh.

PENTECOSTALS ARE NOT A BRANCH OF THE ROMAN CATHOLICS. There are many false assumptions made on yahoo answers and its better if you look it up for yourself or talk to a pentecostal.

the only similarity is that we pentecostal believe what we believe and aren't going to be persuaded and catholics believe what they believe and they, without divine revelation from God, won't be persuaded either. EVERYTHING is the difference

Not really. They are both "works based religions. Both groups will have to ultimately trust in Christ for their salvation and not following the rules.

Pentecostals and Catholics both believe in the doctrine of the Trinity. Catholics add things other than the death and resurrection of Jesus to their 'salvation' theology......things such as worship of Mary, and praying for the dead.......Pentecostals trust only Jesus' death and resurrection for salvation. Pentecostal's worship is very emotional and outward. Catholic's worship is controlled and outwardly unemotional. There ARE Catholic Pentecostals who combine elements of both types of worship. Hope this helps.

The denomination pentacostal is just an off branch of the roman catholic church, I say the denominational system Not the pentacostal experince, The catholic church is the mother of harlots mentioned in Revelation & these denominations are off branches of that system, Now i am only speaking of the system & not the people. Pentacost is an experince.
