With the recent influx of spanish speaking immigrants to the US, do you think more job opportunities will open in spanish translation. Where can I find out about a career in translation, and do you think a minor in Spanish would qualify me (if my major is English) or would I need to major in Spanish?

you need to have both on the same level,
sometimes even more spanish,
because the spanish speaking people has different slang,
depending on which country they are coming from, mexico, honduras, argentina, panama etc, etc,
and if you don't know enough spanish, you could get somebody in trouble,
or it could be fatal, in the case of translating in a hospital

There are always plenty of jobs translating Spanish. Your major or minor in Spanish are both completely irrelevant. You need to have ability in Spanish and English and skill as a translator.
