To me this seems ridiculous, because we are talking about the same God here, in the Old Testament and the New Testament, right. So, why wouldn't God say, hey the Jews should be more like the Christians or vice versa? The differences in religions and beliefs makes the idea of a God seem a little ridiculous.

The questioner says: "because we are talking about the same God here, in the Old Testament and the New Testament, right." Unfortunately, the questioner is terribly wrong. The god refereed to in the Tanach {which is NOT the Old Testament] and the New Testament is drastically different. The G-d of the Tanach forbids human sacrifice; the god of the New Testament encourages it. The G-d of the Tanach is exclusively spiritual, eternal and does not have a body; the god of the New Testament is physical, at least some of the time, and does have a body that can and does die. The G-d of the Tanach is not human, the god of the New Testament is most assuredly human. The G-d of the Tanach is absolutely and uniquely and exclusively a Unity, the god of the New Testament is fragmented into at least 3 or 4 parts. The G-d of the Tanach does not lie, either by accident or purpose or through lack of knowledge, the god of the New Testament lies for all three reasons.

Faith is a journey, not a destination. No one really knows what the higher power is or what happens after this world, but everyone's kinda got an idea. Everyone's on a quest, and some people are closer than others. Has anyone got it right? Probably not, but maybe some are less wrong than others.

The question of "Why doesn't God do X" is an oldie but a goodie. Probably it's got more to do with the fact that we all have different ideas of what God should be and we take the notion that God doesn't conform as proof that God doesn't exist - hence the old "Angry with God for Not Existing" thing.

God's God, lots of people are trying to figure Him out and lots of people have given up, and lots of people are angry at the first two groups.

Probably the best approach is, "There are lots of religions, this one seems the best to me for X reason", and then see where it takes you. Faith is a journey, and doubt is when you stop from time to time to check your bearings. Blind faith leads you all over the place, and total doubt doesn't allow you to move at all. A bit of both is good :-)

Different religions came to be because of diversity: in the interpretations of the bible and in the teachings of the bible. Sometimes, too, out of disagreements and personal interests between the religious and the heads or representatives of the Church. And some from the disgrace borne by kings from Rome or the papacy and in retaliation, organized their own religious sect.

Some Jews don't believe Christ is the Messiah and hence, don't believe He is the Son of God. It isn't God's fault that there are numerous religions around. One should not blame Him for it. Blame man instead.

As strange as it seems people are fighting over the same thing...different cultures is the answer....words mean different things to different people...but mainly the same meaning to all the words...simple...God made all human flesh.....what does it make a difference what they call Him...God is God of the Universe....God ,Jesus and the Holy Spirit......the difference in the jews....Orthodox Jews do not believe the Messiah has come yet....they are unbelievers.....the Messianic Jews believe Jesus is the Messiah that was foretold in the old testament................

Your problem understanding is most likely due to a lack of knowledge about the subject. If you knew anything about the bible you would know it is one book not two so I have to assume you haven't read either. You make assumptions and then declare judgment on a system and people you have no real knowledge of.
God has a plan and future for the Jews that is separate from the Christians comparisons are ridiculous to use your word. Of course you don't know what I'm talking about and don't really care enough to learn so I think your position is ridiculous.
God Bless!

Christianity is an entirely new religion, but it has no legitimacy without the Tanakh (your "Old" Testament). Jews do not need Christianity to explain their existence or their origin, but Christians cannot explain their existence without Judaism.

The belief that God would become human is the ultimate heresy!

the reason there are so many religions is because of differing cultures and belief systems. there is no right or wrong religion. there is only perspective. no matter what way we look at it right and wrong are abstract concepts and cannot be based simply on what one thinks or what society thinks. we'll all have to keep an open mind and accept each other for what we are.

personally i don't really believe in a god, so i don't care about that.

the many religions were around long before the "one"and the reason why jesus doesnt believe the same as christians do is because the church has delibrately altered his teachings in order to hide the truth from the common people for hundreds of years.christianity is an evil religion thats full of politics, control, lies and murderers.my advice to you friend is to resurch other religions like wicca ect.before believing anything that the church tells you.e-mail me if you have more questions ill be glad to help. sonofra_ta@yahoo.com Bright blessings

Obviously in asking such an answer here you aren't seriously after a lot of info - you want a short and rather simple answer cos that's all you could take-in and or understand.
One ShortSimpleAnswer is ...
1. There are NO InvisibleSkyPixies.
2. There are so many breeds of the same InvisibleSkyPixie worshiping breeds and cults and sects because each one was invented to enable another herd of scammers to elicit money from the gullible TrueBelievers.
3. All AbrahamicReligions use the same method of RewardPunishment with the head Pixie reputedly saying: You had better suck up to ME or I WILL send you to hell for eternity.
Funny; I could imagine a man saying that but not an InvisibleSkyPixie.

In a NutShell the answer is: Power and Money.

There are NOT many religions.
They are all quite the same.
They all preach hell-fire, trinity, immortal soul, the good go to heaven, etc.
The only thing different is the man in charge.
As it is, those religious ideas are all false ....at least, non-biblical.
Jesus summed up matters nicely when he said:
"Broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it. Whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it." Matthew 7:13
Jesus knew the majority is wrong.
Do you want to find Biblical truth?
Look for a smaller religion, not one of the main-tream .....and one that does not teach the above mentionned false ideas.
God does not force us to accept His teachings.
He prefers we study, think, meditate over matters and willingly see and accept His teachings.
In Jesus' time, the majority of Jews were not willing to do that.
They refused Jesus and what he stood for.
God let them make that choice .....and let them face the consequences, as well.
