You should listen to your parents. They're right.
You're lucky to have parents that understand that your spirituality is a very private and personal matter that YOU must decide when YOU are ready.
By all means, investigate your options -- even atheism. You should be informed, not just for religion, but as a guiding principle.

Your father is a wise man. To do anything without full knowledge of what you are getting involved in requires training on your part.
You first need to know what God plans for his earth and where you fit into those plans.
So many times we read things quoted in the bible but don't try to reason or understand them. Before a person would get baptized he or she would need to know What is required?
It would be logical to get to know God and his son on a personal level, see John 17:3. This is your first requirement.
The next thing needed is that we have God's approval?
This means that we test all of our beliefs for this is most important if we want to serve God in a way that he approves.
See 2 Timothy 3:16.
We do this by asking questions, testing the things we think are right against what the scriptures say. If the scriptures show our thinking to be wrong, we change our thinking to be in harmony with God's will. (Bible)
An example of this is found at Mathew 5:5, here Jesus said that the meek would inherit the earth. Why would he say that?
Because he knew what his father recorded at Psalms 37:9-11,29.
Another example is found at Mathew 6:9,10. This was a model prayer, or Lords Prayer, Jesus said to pray this way, not word for word but placing things in there importance. To understand the importance of this you need to study the thoughts and scripturally find the answers?
Verse 9 = Psalms 83:18 KJV, Then verse 10 = Daniel 2:44, Revelation 21:3,4.
Before a person dedicates their life with water baptism they need to have a basic understanding of the Bible. This can be achieved by asking questions and getting the scriptural answers. Then you can truly say that you know God and his son and put your lot in life on their side.
If you need help in finding answers just write for this is how a person learns the truth. gemhandy@gmail.com

Your parents want you to make your own decision, and that is how it must be. No one else can make that decision for you. God calls us, and if you are being drawn to the Lord, answer Him.
The thing that "saves" you or allows you to go to heaven is your FAITH in God. The bible says that Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.
If you believe that Jesus is the son of God, that he took the punishment for your sins when he died on the cross, that he rose again on the third day, that he ascended, and is now seated at the right hand of the father, and that he will return to take all believers to heaven where we shall be with the Lord forever, then.....
Repent, this just means you turn from any known sin in your life, asking Jesus to forgive you of that specific sin, ask him to come into your life, to cleanse you from all unrighteousness, ask him to fill you with his Holy Spirit.
Tell God that you willingly receive His forgiveness, and thank Him in Jesus name for your new life in Him.
When you do this, the bible says that you are a new creation in Christ. You will want to read your bible and pray daily. You may make the decision at that time to be baptized. It is an outward act of obedience to the Lord. It is not a requirement for salvation.
May God Richly Bless You

Baptizing a little child is prohibited by a true religion who have true techings on the bible.
good if you have not yet been baptized until you will reach the age of maturity to be basptized. Before getting baptized select the true religion that will baptize you .
Baptzing is the washing away of your sins and baptizing a little child is false because a little child has not yet committed a sin.

Your parents are VERY WISE. I admire them and I admire your clear and honest approch to this.
Don't worry about the baptism, since it is probably not like the Original Baptism that John the Baptist and Jesus were doing. The confusion over baptism is discussed in the free online Book. It is a converstation between two youngsters just about your age, so you might enjoy reading it.
Find this part on baptism in Ch 12, but you may want to read the whole book. It sorts through all the confusing Christian issues people have to deal with these days. A FUN read.

You should believe what the Bible teaches about Jesus and ask God to give you his Holy Spirit and then you can go through the ceremony of Baptism that symbolizes the inward change that occurs when one is born again by the Spirit.
Romans 6:3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
1 Corinthians 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
John 3:7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Luke 11:9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

That's not true, baptism isn't the way to go to heaven. If baptism was the way, wouldn't have Jesus baptized people everywhere? Not even the Apostle Paul baptized many people.
The way to go to heaven is to have personal relationship with Jesus, having surrendered your life to Him and having Him forgive all your sins. JESUS is the way to heaven, NOT baptism.
We are not all God's sons and daughters. We were all created by Him. But to become a Child of God, you have to enter into a relationship with Him.
John 1:12 "Yet to all who received him (Jesus), to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—"
Go to my 360 profile and read the blog "To the new-born Child of God". This might give you a better answer than what I can write here.

Faith is about entering into a relationship with a higher power. Baptism is just a verification of this faith. What matters first is to believe.
With regards to going to Heaven, I think that traditional Catholic belief has the idea that baptism is necessary to gain access due to the sacrament associated with the act. Whether you agree with this will probably depend on your attitude towards Catholicism. Whether this is true, is uncertain. What's definite though is that if you believe in Christ then you go to Heaven, I think that's hard to argue with :-)
Take your time and believe what feels right - this is about starting a very long journey, so make it a good one!
You are on a very good start if this decision means enough to you that you wish to think about it. Good luck.

Hello, Xiomara:
You should be in Church each Sabbath, take Bible studies with your pastor, and be baptized.
My wife and I work in the mission field where parents often postpone baptism of their children--they are not really religious and are hoping they will choose Catholicism (their family tradition), thus the delay and....
We see children old enough to accept Jesus instead choose drugs, street life, sex, etc., and without a firm foundation in Christian morals, that sets the standard for their entire life spiraling into ruin. Parents should encourage their children to form Heavenly values, not make choices for a bad world. God will hold parents accountable for their neglect: "What have you given me for eternity, with that precious child that I intrusted to your care?"
When you choose Christ, it's more than a legal dipping to get to heaven. It symbolizes changes that must occur in your life. When you go into the water, you show that you have died to this world like Christ's death. Then when you arise, it is a Resurrection to new born-again life with Christ in your heart. Read Roman's sixth chapter for Paul's description of what takes place internally.
Jesus did say you must be born of water and the Spirit. The most important part is the Spirit, because your Comforter will be your Friend in your Christian walk.
Many will confuse you on Christ's mission. Please take time to read the on-line Book, "The Wise Shall Understand." It will simplify God's plan of redemption for you and this fallen planet: www.revelado.org/revealed.htm
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

You are still just a child, and should wait until you are older and have a bit of knowledge about many different beliefs before committing yourself to one. In that way, you will be able to make the decision that is best for you. What seems right now may not be what you want in the future.
Listen to your parents on this one.
