He ceretainly thinks he is.
He certainly may wish to be.
However, he is associated with a religious organization that teaches things contrary to what Christ taught.
Therefore, at best, he is 'christian' in name only.

the pope being the head of the catholic church elected by his peers - i suppose we must assume he is a christian - however since the church is the wealthiest body on the planet and they have enough to help the worlds starving and sick but they appear not to be doing this- the church could solve all the problems of poverty - it would seem to me that his principles are a little scratchy to say the least- he is in charge after all.
I'd be hard put to call him a real christian but he's got the top job so i assume he must be a fairly good man

The pope would be in charge to all he leads off purpose. Woe to him! The pope accepts worship as though he's Christ. Jesus will come back, and that i does not choose to be in the pope's shoes then. I believe "t d" i exploit to think of Islam became the fake prophet, yet, now i'm leaning extra in the direction of the pope. shop Watch, toddlers of the main extreme!!! shop Watch, and Pray!!! there is extra beneficial than meets the attention!

I'm sure he believes Jesus is Saviour of the world, through His sacrifice on the cross for us. That is the basic christian claim, so if he believes it he is a christian.
As to be being born again, a person is born again, if they take and believe in Christ as their Saviour, whether they know it or not.
Thats not to say that he is right about everything, but what man is ? He doubtless has many good qualities, as they take some care in choosing the Pope.

The pope is not a real, nor true christian. he sits on enough wealth that could help the needy of millions. yet he condemns them...as many are not of his beleifs. As far as being the head of the roman catholic church...he is nothing more than useless. he has all those who work around him give him the answers to all thew questions as well as what he should say.

How do you define "real Christian"?
Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.
A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
Catholics would fit this definition.
In the Nicene creed, from 325 C.E., Catholics profess:
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.
For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm
With love in Christ.

...First you need to define the word "Christian"... The title of "Pope" is a Pagan title that was accepted by the Roman Church... The first "9" Popes were ALL Jews and there is no definitive documentation to show that Peter was a "Pope" as claimed by the Roman Church... Peter never claims such a position nor is there any historical proof to support the Roman Church's claim to it... it is "their" dogma... When Jesus said ..."upon this Rock I shall build my Church" , the Greek lexicon is very very clear about the wording... The Roman Church believes Jesus said "" (Peter)... the actual word was "Kefa" which is Peters Jewish/Hebrew name and Jesus (Yeshua) spoke Hebrew and Aramaic... Yeshua used the word "petra" which translates to "rock"...of which Jesus is The Rock... The Roman Church, over the millenniums have "skewed" the Word of God in very subtle and careful ways to present to "their" "bound in religion" followers the words of a man of whom "they" claim is infallible... any such claim is nonsense as we all know, no one is perfect...(no human)... Jesus never ever disavowed His Hebrewness and never started a "new religion"... what He said was very clear; "I AM the Way, the Truth and the Light"... not the Roman Church... (You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free).

If he has been born again by the Holy Spirit then he is a real Christian.
Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

A real Christian would be a person who promotes the Original Kingdom Gospel rather than the Pauline substitute which is so popular these days.
There is a difference between the two... and a fun way to learn about it is a free online resource... Gospel Enigma. Find it here..
