In heaven, they'd have no body. Don't think of them as animals, think of them as souls, and they'd all be exactly the same. Humans, dogs, rabbits, everything would be the same. So, why wouldn't they interact?
I personally don't believe in heaven, but if I did, this is how I imagine it would be.

Your mom probably told you this to comfort you about the loss of a pet, I guess.
According to my reading of the Bible I have never read anything about an animal heaven. But God is kind to His creation, so since He made also the animals, I am sure He has a good place for them as well.
In fact when God makes a new heaven and a new earth, there will be no bad animals anymore, like it says in Isaiah 65:25 "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox."

If it was so, that humans and animal where divided into each heaven, then God is discriminating. Well - that is no secret that God is discriminating.
However animals die and are dissolved exactly the same way as humans. They dissolve into molecules and are re-used by nature to strenthen itself to survive the humans that believe that God has a purpose of the self-destruction of the planet the religious humans are working so hard on.

Not only animals, humans as well DON'T go to heaven.
At least, not according to the Bible.
May I refer you to Jesus words at John 3:13?
"no man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven."
So, at least until Jesus' time, no humans went to heaven.
If no humans went, why would God show greater favor to animals?
Acts 2:34 has Peter saying King David never went to heaven when he died, and God particularly liked him.
"Actually David did not ascend to the heavens....."
If humans, or animals went to heaven, who would be around to eventually fulfill Psalm 37:29?

Animal is for pleasure and use for people to enjoy and learn from. Yet just like anything God gives, man has the times to abuse. There is no heaven for animals. Animals exist yes God created them just like the flowers trees and insects. Everything God does is for mans enjoyment. Does God really guard us? He cares for us and loves us. Can and animal pray or read the word of God. Does he know right from wrong? Can it speak,or write books? Does it have a spirit or a soul?

“Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless."

More questions:
Think about how huge it would be. Every animal that ever lived. Also, how would god have to change the natures of the animals? Lions would no longer have the urge to hunt prey (because that wouldn't be a very nice heaven for the gazelles, if they did). But what would lions DO then?

Animals do not go to Heaven, neither do we. We all go to the grave until God resurrect us after Armageddon.

Only man was created in the image of GOD; and so man has the spirit of eternity. On one hand, THE LORD GOD in his ALMIGHTY POWER can create anything HE wants even from stones turned into animals or whatever beast of the fields or the forest or the savannahs.
