Yes, they say you should not take them because you need to move around and stretch your legs, because of that deep vein thrombosis on long flights....

On long haul flights I always take a couple of temazepam just before take off. I then tend to sleep through most of the flight which is great as I am really scared of flying. Also when I wake up I feel really refreshed and have not suffered jet-lag any worse than anyone else. My GP prescribes the temazepam a couple of weeks before I go and he only gives me enough for the journey there and back. I have never had any problems with deep vein thrombosis or becoming addicted to the tablets. It makes flying a lot easier for me and my family.

Okay, so the replies that you got about being the pilot were amusing - and you asked for them.
Why on earth would you want to take sleeping pills, anyway? If you are a healthy adult, you shouldn't need to take sleeping pills! If you eat a healthy diet, then you should be able to sleep properly without sleeping pills. If you are a nervous passenger, then eat the right foods that will calm you down - if you think that you need 'pills' then go to a herbalist.
Flying is fun! I still don't understand why you would want to sleep during the flight!

Its generally a bad idea to take them at all. They are so addictive that taken 3 nights in a row, you can become hooked, potentially for life!
A specific flight issue might be that if you take them during a long haul flight, the increased period of immobility while you sleep, could theoretically at least increase you DVT = leg clot risk, still further!

They will help you sleep all the way through the flight. I don't know why it would be different than taking them while you were at home. At least if the plane wrecks or something you will sleep right through it. LOL I'm just playing.

pilot pilot pilot! LOL everyone said something about that..I've taken them many times on flights but it depends how much they effect you..like if u take them and someone tries to wake u up and cant..then you might want to reconsider in case there is an emergancy on the plane...but if your able to function properly even while on them there isnt any problem!

undesirable theory, hun. in case you're taking drowsing pills, you will no longer sleep in any respect whe you attain your holiday spot. you will fel drowsy the entire day, inspite of in case you're asleep. in basic terms carry some books, get carry of video clips on your ipod, and relax.

What kind of bird are you? A bald eagle?
How do you plan to fly? Flap your wings? It is dangerous if somewhere on top of the world you fall asleep and forget to flap you wings!

Yes, a double scotch and Ambien works perfectly for a mild to moderate coma. I do it all the time!

depends on the flight time.
Some researchers claim it can affect jet lag and you may not move about enough (DVT) or take on enough liquid to avoid de-hydration.
