Hi Rae -- try it with tuna. Don't use mayo, just put mustard (good old fashioned yellow crap) on the bread and drained can / foil of tuna next. Maybe a couplea pickles or lettuce if you so choose. Very yummy. Nice change from the mayo.
The vinegar in mustard is also really good for your digestion.

Hot dogs are a good and simple idea for the park; you can add on goldfish or pretzels on the side and some sliced fruit. Cupcakes are also nice. If you're at the park, you probably won't have to do much else. Three is pretty young to attempt organized games but maybe a simple game like Simon Says, duck, duck goose or an outdoor variation of musical chairs where you put a pile of toys like blocks or other small objects on the ground and when the music stops everyone grabs one, child without a toy is out. If you have a bean bag toss game that might be okay. They could string beads for a simple craft and maybe color a little. Have fun.

Rae, Mustard is a seasoning that can be used on a wide variety of foods. It's an essential ingredient in Barbecue sauce (YUM YUM). Dried mustard is god for a number of meat dishes including ham, pork, beef, lamb, fish (both fresh water and salt water), It makes an excellent addition to sutffings for poultry, and I have found it to be medicinal as well. It provides a heating sensation for sore muscles and can be made into a wonderul massaging lotion for stiff backs and arm and legs.

Probably healthier than mayo for sure (no egg in it).... I use mustard on many meats (never tried it on fish and probably wouldn't), in dips, as a condiment on many sandwiches, on the plate with boiled meats and a pinch of powdered mustard in some soups too.

it can be used as a seasoning for any meat product. it is traditionally used on soft pretzels as well as meats. I have mixed with jarred mayonnaise for an extra kick for sandwiches and it can also be used in making homemade mayonnaise as a binder to keep the mayonnaise from separating. I also mix a little bit of dijon mustard with sour cream for beef stroganoff.
my personal favorite mustard for meats is Stadium Mustard which is easy to find in Cleveland, Ohio. I have also found it in Detroit and Buffalo.

Mustard is delicious on pork, ham especially. I make a glaze using mustard powder, maple syrup and brown sugar for my ham at Christmas. Also, spreading whole grain mustard on a pork tenderloin before cooking is delicious. Mustard is fat free and has been used for medicinal purposes for years. For instance, you can mix mustard powder with water to make a substitute for ipecac syrup. I also have a recipe for a potato casserole that calls for a 1/2 cup of Dijon mustard, and that is delicious too.

My mom makes a German dish using mustard. It is called Rolatin. It's mustard, onions, bacon, pickles rolled up in thin strips of steak. It's yummy. The mustard gives it the distinct taste. It is less fattening than mayo.

brats, and other suasages,
It is great if you pound a chicken breast thin then brush it with mustard. then you press the chicken breast into grated (like hashbrowns) potatoes. then you fry it in a very small amount of olive oil until potatoes are browned and chicken is cooked.
yes it usually has not fat no calories depending on what kind it is.
Mayo is made from oil, eggwhites and sugar as the main ingredients so high in fat, high in calories and cholesteral.

Use mustard either to marinate meat or make a lovely sauce/gravy with it. You can also use it for your salad dressings (as the french do) eg potato, russian salads etc.

My brother is really into health & fitness. He often snacks on celery with mustard. Virtually calorie free, but not too tasty IMO.
