U see I'm a 12 yr old girl and in Singapore(My country). Every 12 yr old kid would have to go through an important exam called "PSLE".. My parents approve braces however they are saying that if I get my braces before my exams it would affect my studies..In PSLE...students have to go through a speech examination..As in students have to read a passage, describe a picture and have a conversation with the teacher.. Okay...maybe I should get my braces after the speech examinations. But I should be able to get it before my writing examinations right??? My parents are still saying that I would give excuses like "My teeth hurts so much..I can't study" I know I wouldn't but they wouldn't listen to me... I have to wait till November comes then I would be able to get my braces...the reason why I want my braces as soon as possible is because I wanna get it on and off as soon as possible.... what do u think?? Will braces really affect my studies?? Or will it make me sick? (like wat my parents say?)

When people get braces.. the pain differs from person to person. My teeth were sore for about 3 weeks but in no way did this affect me talking to people or learning for tests. If you have to get some teeth pulled out when getting your braces then that could pose a pain problem but the pain is not so bad that you won't be able to study. Like I said, braces don't affect your speech at all!!! Unless you get a retainer but even after a day you can speak normally when having a retainer. It just takes some getting used to. Your parents bviously don't know what they are talking about and you should go get your braces now. Like you said, the sooner they are on, the sooner they come off =] I hope that helps

The process of braces takes a while. First you have to make an appointement with your ortho. Once that is settle, they have to get your x-rays, molds, teeth cleaning,& pictures. Then spacers. Also if you need extractions, that will also take some time also. If your just thinking about getting braces now, you might not be able to get the actual braces on this about the next month. Since the orto. can be very busy, the appointements you need might be schedule a little late. I suggest you talk with your ortho. now, and tell him about your problem. The pain is different for everybody. When you first get it on, it will hurt a week for the most part. After each tightning, that will hurt for a few days. This mgiht not affect your studies, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PAIN KILLERS.
Good luck. I say, talk to your ortho, asap.

ok. relax =] I have been given my braces off final summer time, and that's bark is a lot worse than its bite. Braces, and discomfort result distinctive human beings in distinctive techniques. For me, it basically hurts for the 1st few days. I took a discomfort-killer when I have been given domicile, yet i think of it could be extra effectual which you will take it earlier you pass in. For the 1st few days, your gums could thank you in case you ate basically tender meals. Toothbrushes lower back, then completely remember on the guy. some human beings like tender techniques, so it does not rub up against your gums as lots, yet i offered an electric powered toothbrush so that's extra effectual of cleansing my tooth. Cavities are very consumer-friendly with braces, enable me alert you, simply by fact nutrition gets caught in the brackets, and without the perfect cleansing, could bring about cavities. I recommend making an investment in floss. you would be high-quality and the dentist might actually help comprehend something which you're able to be able to desire to correctly known. additionally, sorry yet no gum, even nevertheless i did not pay attention when I did it. ;-] sturdy success, and don't difficulty!

I think all your parents are concerned about is your doing well in your studies, and that you do what you say you will do. I would ask them to let you do it, and then do everything you can to keep your word. It will help you build trust and credibility.,

but at 12 years old a few months aren't going to make that big of difference.
