Sunday Christian (also Once-a-weeker) is a derisive term used to refer to someone who typically goes to church on Sundays but does not strictly adhere to the doctrines or rules of the religion otherwise.

The term is most often used by some Christians to deride someone whom they feel is lukewarm in the Christian faith. From their perspective, a "Sunday Christian" is attempting to cheat God by taking only those parts of the religion which are appealing or convenient without having to commit to anything. They believe the "Sunday Christian" is attempting to buy his/her way into heaven with a minimal amount of effort.

If you are. How does it feel to be judged by other Christians as they feel that you are just giving lip service to get in with the big fella?

JESUS M -You need to get your nose out of your bible and take a look at Wikipedia. That's where this question came from. It's not a made up term it's an actual term used for Christians that just attend church on a Sunday.

I believe in the Divine, but have little faith that a church can lead me to heaven. I find churches, in general, to be so limited and short sited. Completely stuck in the view that their view is the only one. Also, save for Jehovah wittiness I tend to know more about the actual bible than most Christians I meet.

I have studies, Sufis, native Americans, Buddhism, Wicca, zen, eastern philosophies, Indian, Egyptian, Mason's, Greek and roman religion, druids .... I still come to the same conclusions. Though some ways are much more accepting that others.

So I do not feel that a person who goes every day, knows, understands more than someone who goes 1 time a week or month or year. Do not judge a book by its cover.

judge not,

How can I be a Sunday Christian ? LOL!! He is as part of my life as my family !
I try not to judge others over whatever, what you sow you reap, so if you choose to walk with God 24/7 then you will be more blessed than if you choose to give Him little time, same as relationship with anyone.
Most of the Christians that I know have enough of God's love not to judge others, those who do judge, we pray for that they will be released from it !
I have been judged by many people, even more so since I became a Christian ; but being a Christian doesn't make you perfect, it just means you know someone who is, and as you get to know Him, you get to know what pleases God, then its up to you to to choose what you do.

I go to church on Saturday, not Sunday, but i am also not a 'one day worshiper' i have my own devotional every morning and night, and i pray all day basically. i don't think it's right for people to think that they can just get a free pass to heaven, but i also don't think it's other people's job to judge them. It's their business and they can decide what their realtionship with Jesus. If they are only going to church once a week to get a free pass to heaven without really having a relationship with Jesus, then they'll sure be surprised when He comes and they arn't ready. Everyone needs to be ready everyday!

There are people in every walk of life who are "lukewarm", why should Christianity be any different? A true Christian will have God in their heart at all times, not just Sunday, or their wedding day or Christmas.

In a t rue christianity, there is no such as sunday christian. You are making your own english words which are not on the encarta, dictionary or encyclopeddia. There is no once-a-weeker word also.

Any day is a worship day not on Sunday alone where Catholics and other religions believ e. . What is in the bible is the Worship day, Prayer meeting and the Thanksgiving to God.

Nope! I go to church for 3 hours on Sunday, then I spend another hour later at night at a fireside devotional. On Tuesdays I help organize and meet at the church again for mutual which lasts 1-3 hours. I am also the young men's leader of the 16-18 year olds (bishop's assistant). I have to go to meetings every third Sunday because of my position. I even went to a 5 day long day camp for 12 hours each day last week. I love church!!!

Edit: Why did someone give me a thumbs down?
Edit: Yay! Thumbs up! :)

My faith has nothing to do with how often I'm in church. It has nothing to do with "doctrines" or "rules of religion". It has to do with where my heart is with God. Anyone who has read the Bible knows it is impossible to "buy your way into heaven".
"For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God"

When I was being raised Catholic, I heard the term crisis Catholic which refered to Catholics who went to church only when there was a crisis in their lives and biannual Catholics who attended church only on Easter and Christmas.
I attended regularly, but did not concern myself with how often others went.
Now I practice my Buddhism daily.

No one is perfect and the attending of church is to help you to do better. No one , not even God expects us to be saints. Unfortunately we are human and unable to be perfect. God just expects us to try very hard to keep his commandments. He is a forgiving God.
