My kitten (she is about 5 months old) will be coming with me from Nevada to Oklahoma. I tried to find non-stop flights but there are NONE, so we are stuck with one with a layover. Together my poor kitty will be locked in there for about 9 -10 hours.
I really hate this and wish I could drive or something for her. Does anyone have tips or advice?
Also, I am thinking that during the layover I will go in the bathroom and set up a disposable litter box I'll be bringing, so that she can relieve herself (if she will..) Is this even allowed? I don't want the poor thing having to hold it or dirtying herself since I can't take her out of the kennel at all during the flight or in the airport. =(
PLEASE any advice to help her would be great. (And any words to calm me down about the flight- I am terrified of flying- would be appreciated as well.)

Oh she won't be in cargo. She is my carry-on. I tend to worry about everything under the sun, I won't let her out of my site lol.

First off, don't worry about flying, i've flown from NY to Japan several times, and the trip is about 26 hours total, and that's with no layovers.

Second I don't know if there is much you can do to calm the cat, she's going to be uncomfortable regardless of what you do. Aside from drugging her (with Ketamine) there isn't much you can do for her.

I wouldn't advise taking her out in the bathroom, what happens if she get's freaked out and runs?

I wouldn't worry so much about the cats potty problem they sleep about that long at night without needed a break.
I would worry more about the heat in the cargo hold. I wouldn't do it in the summer at all.
