In the deluded, bigoted minds of some "Christians". I was raised Catholic too (before converting to Buddhism) and I agree with you.
But "it says so in the Bible" rolls off the tongue much nicer than "I am a small minded bigot."
Do the people who are quoting Leviticus realize they are saying it is OK to stone men who lie with men? Does this mean they think they should be able to go around stoning gay people? Oh and anytime Someone starts with God made Adam and Eve, I finish it for them with blah, blah, blah I'm a moron.

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When a person continues in sin and disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in .

My friend, I have read all of the above regarding homosexuality. All of them reference the Bible. I used to interpret men being with men as not good because of the twelve tribes. This was because they wanted to have male children in order to wage war or protect themselves; which is understandable. Masturbation was not looked on highly for the same reason.

The fact is that the Bible was written by men who wrote scriptures hundreds of years after facts or apparent facts. They were jaded in their opinions and the Bible is full of opinions. Do you think that the scriptures would be the same if a gay guy wrote a passage? Of course not. These people were people of their time who wrote what they wanted to and the idiots of our time take too many things as fact.

Let me give you a couple of examples. The Bible says one must erect a tent in the desert and deliver bread on an alter. Who does that now? The people who are saying homosexuality is wrong? The Bible says you should slaughter lambs and burn them in offering to God. Do you believe that one person who supports the Bible has done this? It was written, so they should be doing that, right? The Bible says that women should not wear clothing that exposes their ankles. Are the "Christian" women following this directive?

I want to know the name of one person alive who is bleeding lambs in an alter, which was dictated in the Bible. Show me one person who does all that the Bible tells them to do and I will digress. Produce one man who has not thought about fortification with another woman, because the Bible states that just thinking about a sin is in fact committing that sin.

Do not listen to these heathens who profess to be Godly, because they have committed nearly every sin that the Bible speaks about. They would point out homosexuality to be the HUGE sin on earth, but is not contained in the "Ten Commandments", as the Bible says (applicable to your question):

3) Thou shalt not make wrongful use of the name of thy God. How many people do this?
4) Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. How many people do not work on Sunday?
7) Thou shalt not commit adultery. (ask Jerry Farwell and Jim Baker)
9) Thou shalt not bear false witness. (ask the Bush Administration)
10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife. (ask most anyone).

I'm sorry, I didn't see anything about gay people in the Ten Commandments. What I did read is to treat your neighbor as you would have him treat you. I also read, "Judge not, least you be judged". Humm, I think I also read that, "He that believes in me shall have everlasting life". I think that includes gay people because my God did not create mistakes.

No verse can be found in the Bible that being a homosexual is a sin.
As long as the person is not transgressing the commandment of the Lord. He/she is not sinning.

1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Man, Christians! I'm an agnostic and even I know Leviticus is the one that goes all "gay-bashy!"

It says it's an abomination. . .

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Seems pretty clear-cut. But it's not a problem for Christians because they believe SELECTIVELY. They pick and choose what to believe and follow -- for instance, the vast majority don't observe the sabbath and worship on Sunday. The majority of abortions performed in the U.S. are on Christian women. Christians divorce at exactly the same rate as the rest of society. So the sanctity of human life (abortion) AND of a solemn oath to God (wedding vows) are both negotiable.

It's a fact. Go figure.

1 Corinthians 6:9 says

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites....

22 " 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
leviticus 18:22
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Romans 1: 26-27
Sin is an archery term it literally means missing the mark. (the bulls eye) the bulls eye is glorify God to the best of our ability and serving his like he deservesto be served. Anything less is sin. The context of these verses is man building up God's wrath and you don't do that if you are not sinning. i hope this helped God bless!
