I'm not an atheist, but I know the answer.

Misery DOES love company, and that explains all the people at church. They sit there, miserable, while the minister rants on about hellfire and brimstone . . . or the joys of (boring) heaven . . .

I've never seen atheists have meetings . . . .

Misery does love company. I remember back in my days at school when i was worried because i hadnt finished an assignment, it was always better to know when someone else was in the same boat as you.
Why this questions is being limited to atheists i dont know, is the questioner trying to imply that atheists are miserable??

I much prefer the saying ignorance is bliss when talking to religious people....

I am an atheist and I'm not miserable. I am sure that christians like to tell themselves we're all miserable - but it's so freeing to not be bound by a moronic belief or a book written by men that were obviously flawed. I choose to live a good life - be a good person - and question things that should be questioned.

no, but christians do! No that's why most christians like you are miserable and sit on here bashing other people! Now, would you call that misery loves company! At least I think so...

Athiests don't have misery, they have closure. Just like christains have closure, through acceptance then forgivness. Neither way can be frowned apon, but attacking one for either opinion is quite out of line, no matter how its phrased. My grandma was stopped by a priest and was asked if she still went to the devils church... its out of line, stop.

Huh?

I guess you're saying that to be free of delusion means that one is unhappy?

Wrong, I roll with the lows and highs that come along in life. It means that one can be positive without losing one's reason. I like the taoist/buddhist? analogy of a reed that bends with the wind. If one is too rigid, one is fragile.

It means I don't have to discriminate against people of other faiths or genders because my Imaginary Daddy would scold me or not accept me.

That makes me happy, and relieved.

Misery is a childish emotion and I leave all childishness to InvisibleSkyPixieWorshipers.

The was a revelation and the atheist know about it and do not believe it.

Atheists as compared with the rest of the population are not smarter, dumber, etc.

OK, look. For starters, Christians have a higher divorce, homicide and general jailing rate than atheists. Atheists also have a higher IQ (it's been statistically proven) and religion has a negative correlation to IQ. I'm also very happy and content.
