I've always wondered if slamming the breaks and swerving the tire is such a good idea. I mean, the movies say other wise, they kill of a bunch of people this way, but does it work in real life? If not, what would be the best way to get out of this situation alive?

Driving is visual. Your hands follow your eyes, which is how your brain works, so you go where you are looking. Remember you also have peripheral vision too so you see more than where your focus is. Think of walking down the street and staring across the street at something. You would tend to walk off the curb. If you need to avoid any object or vehicle on the roadway you should brake if necessary, then come off the brake and steer only enough to avoid the object/vehicle. Don't oversteer!
Braking and steering don't work together.
Most people steer too much. At higher speeds and during poor weather conditions oversteering (swerving) will cause you to lose control and roll or skid.
Practice by developing the habit of making very straight lane changes, looking far ahead up the lane you are entering.
You can also take an advanced driving course which includes driving around pilons, braking and avoiding around pilons, threshold braking, and other great stuff. If you live in a colder climate, take the course during the winter months so you can really experience the limitations of your vehicle.
I was driving someone else's SUV last week. My cell phone rang and I looked down to see where my phone was located (1 or 2 seconds). I looked up ahead again and there was a deer running across the road in front of me. An oncoming vehicle was swerving onto his right shoulder to avoid it.
The poor deer was losing grip on the road surface and his hooves where slipping out from under him. He was now in front of me.
Well, deer don't run backwards, so I looked to the left of the rear of the deer and suddenly remembered I was in an SUV, so I ever so slightly turned my wheel to the left (no oncoming vehicles) and was able to drive around the deer as he made his way across the pavement.
This all occurred within about 5 seconds. Habits are what you fall back on in emergency situations such as this. If I always oversteered, I could have rolled my friend's SUV.
If you need to drive off the road and into the ditch, then do so. Drivers tend to "want" to stay on the pavement. Sometimes you need to go off the road.
So, if you are going towards a bridge abuttment, a tree, or a big truck, DON'T look at the object, but instead look for an escape route. This is not easy to do, but you should think about it a lot so it's in the back of your mind.
Think and drive!

Don't panic. Hard braking & swerving could make you lose control, leave it to the professionals, like police officers & stuntmen. Gently press the brakes & at the same time, work your way towards the RIGHT shoulder. Swerving to the left will put you into the path of oncoming traffic & create bigger problems.

If the truck driver is in the wrong, he/she will hopefully realize what is going on & move towards his/her right before it is too late. If it was your choice to pass a vehicle in either a "no passing" zone or you misjudged the distance, use it as a life lesson after making it out of the situation.

I don't have to worry about it because I'm the one with the semi-truck. But if I was in the smaller vehicle, I would brake and swerve away from the oncoming truck. The person in the truck should just brake, because swerving a large truck will probably cause it to rollover, so the car has to do the swerving.

properly first i do unlike how the character's communicate over with their boss as "grasp" it style of feels plenty too Lord of the rings to me. I enjoyed how Aniela earlier each little thing appeared very bossy, on top of issues and constructive; yet unexpectedly you became her right into a sucker and wimp while head to head along with her boss. What i'm saying is i admire how your characters all began, with Aniela being the bossy no longer uncomplicated woman and Demetris being the clumsy wimpy guy, yet close to the tip it appeared to get messy and everywhere, you will desire to keep your characters basic and likable, and make up your innovations with while it contains coming up their personalities; failure to accomplish that would provide your character's diverse personalities. Now I comprehend you opt for the boss to be very intimidating and annoying, yet i think of Anielas character would desire to stand as much as him a sprint, and not sink herself into the chair nervously like Demetris would, the creation to Aniela made me think of of her as a no longer uncomplicated controlling lady which I choose, it provides your characters extra of a kind. Now i can not inform you plenty extra by using fact i do no longer comprehend your plot nor your topic, I see somewhat some grammar and spelling blunders yet different than that curiously to have a good number of potential and that i'm hoping which you pursue it.

well slamming the brakes would cause your brakes to lock up even in a car with abs you would still understeer ( your wheel is turned but you are going straight) So if i didn't panic i would brake just enough and turn out of the way. Then clean my pants.

slowly, and in a controlled-manner, move the steering wheel no more than 2 inches in a direction 20 degrees from center. Then repeat if time permits and to get back to normal repeat process in reverse.

You're driving head on straight into a large truck, what do you do?

I lean over and wake my buddy up, because he hasn't ever seen a bad truck wreck.

In movies, the actors swerve the car to one side but don't bring it back again. You get your answer.

take off my seatbelt and jump in the backseat...kidding

I think I would direct my car to the right or left side (assuming I am driving behind the truck) and THEN think about hitting my brakes.

Simple. It would never happen.

I don't drive into trucks, head-on or otherwise.
