They hang out! ;) Firefighters also respond to to medical calls and MVAs (motor vehical accidents) so they're kept pretty busy. And they respond to the small fires that don't make the news too, grease fires in the kitchen and what have you.

They can sometimes stay at the fire department or go home to their own beds.I know a few firefighters with a second job. But to sum it all up they can live a normal life.

Train so that when there is a fire we know how to handle the situation safely. EMS is now 80% of the fire service so much of our time revolves around keeping up with certifications and training for EMS.

at our firehouse they respond to ambulance runs and other service calls, accidents, wires down, gas odors, fire alarms... they also play pool, watch tv, sit out ifo the fire house and talk, wash the trucks, surf the net....
