I am my brother's keeper only if my brother wants me to be or he is incapacitated in some way and needs my help. My brother has the free will to do as he wants and I should not interfere with that God given right without very good cause.

This is only a matter of my opinion, but yes I do think of myself as my brother's keeper.

If I see them doing something harmful, or unlawful, it would be my duty to tell them in hopes they would recognize the fact they were wrong and change.

For an example: I found that my sister was doing drugs and had abused her child. I have two options here: One, I can turn my back and do nothing. Two, I could tell her shes wrong and get her and the child help.

I chose to help, the end result my sister has went through rehab and has become a much better person. I'd hate to think of where she would be if I hadn't made that decision to help her.

The same can apply to anyone, you never know who you might help become a better person by being your brothers keeper

I could assist my brother or come to his aid if asked, but I have to be asked.
People over the age of reason (12) should ask for help, not think someone will save them.
Ask and it help will be provided, seek and you shall find. If you knock and no one lets you in - get help to open the door.
I'm not a herder of cats.
I'm someone to lean on, or walk with as equals - not an overseer, or taskmaster.

Well, my brothers abandoned me when I decided to no longer be a minister in their faith. However, I would jump in front of bullets for them, because they are my brothers. I asked one of them some years ago, and he is an elder in his congregation, if he would help me out. He said " no". But, I would help any of my friends, or my family not matter the cost, and the christian god didn't give me that, it's just what I am.
Thank you.

If I was my brother's keeper, I'd be sending him a box of condoms on a regular basis.

It makes me glad I'm not.

We should always support and help our fellow man. Caring for others is crucial. It's that big step from only caring for ourselves and projecting self-love to others that makes us human and humane.
