I have no doubt the way our culture is "progressing," that "gay 'marriage'" will be the politically correct "order of the day."

As a follower of Christ, I cannot be concerned at how my children's children will, (as you say), "look back at the present-day Christian community with contempt."

Hopefully and prayerfully, they will be established in the Faith and in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures to know that the gay lifestyle is aberrant and in direct violation to the norms and practices of the Christian Faith.

I cannot help but think of your question, that you, yourself, are "gay." And if my assumption is correct, I cannot help but think that you are doing your best to justify and rationalize your [supposed] identity and lifestyle choice.

I encourage you to read about those of your community that have "come out" of your lifestyle choice. You may be surprised -- and, not only surprised, but interested how they came to an end to their lifestyle.

Here's some info. regarding a former gay leader who no longer is affiliated with the gay community. At least for the sake of reading something different -- check this out:

I wonder about it all the time, and I also wonder when we will find the appropriate balance between allowing everything and allowing nothing. There must be some way that an actual dialogue can be opened about everyone's concerns with it being so closed and hurtful. You are not looking for an answer, you are looking for a fight. Aswers won't come until we both ask the real questions and listen to each other's real answers.

Do you look back at your ancestors with contempt? All society's have actions and consequences. Not all of the actions are correct. But we must deal with the fall out. I.E. when they took prayer out of school, We now have more violence and drugs and disrespect for teachers. Do we have contempt for the people who did pray? Are you hating the group that you want to accept you?

Hey man I totally agree. It's easier for people to admit their ancestors were wrong then to admit they are. And for those of you who don't think it will never be legalized, think again. You never thought Galileo would be vindicated. You never thought slavery was wrong (don't try and weasel out, it's in your bible Ephesians 6:5). You never thought divorce would be legalized, or women were equal to men (again no weaseling out It's in there multiple times, the only one that comes to mind at the moment though is Genesis 3:16. A good example, but no the best one). You never though abortion would be legalized. And time and time again you have been proven wrong. When will you guys finally learn to live with, and fully aprecciate change?

Probably, but a christian thinking that far ahead is like a monkey discovering the three laws of motion and then disproving the laws of thermodynamics 5, 000 years before Socrates was even born.

No. I don't look back at my grandparents generations with contempt for some of their beliefs. Every generation changes the way we look at religion, morals, and even mankind in general. There are people who, no matter what, will think this is wrong just as today they think allowing mixed marriages is immoral. People need to be more accepting of each other. Somethings are just none of anyone else's business and is private.

They won't hold Christianity in contempt for its position on gay marriage; but they will look back on the marriage of Christianity and American right wing politics and say "we told you so!"

NO I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT MY CHILDRENS CHILDREN WON'T LOOK BACK WITH CONTEMPT BECAUSE CONTEMPT IS NOT A FUNDAMENTAL CHRISTIAN CONCEPT AND CHRISTIANS DO NOT HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE GAY MARRIAGE LEGAL OR NOT LEGAL LOL

True Christian today look at this generation now in contempt because they refuse to believe what Scriptures teach.

1Cor:7:2: Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

But make up their own rules to live by, this is called self righteousness. A person who lives by what Scriptures teach is righteous, a person who lives by thier own rules and their own guidelines disregarding what Scriptures teach, has their own righteousness.

No, because I don't think we'll be around that long. At the rate the prophecies are being fulfilled in Christianity, we won't be here very much longer I think.
