roughly 25% why are people so bigoted and upset by them? It just seems to be exactly what the bible said would happen. All beliefs welcomed, please.

You dont see TV espousing the wholesomeness of a Christian family, NBC cut the word God out of VeggieTales. There are no real popular and successful Christian bands on the mainstream, etc. We are not really represented by any media that is within our culture, just thought I would remind everyone of our current social trends.

Because they tend to judge and condemn others who do not share their beliefs and force their beliefs down your throat.
Same reason people would be upset if Nazis made up 25% of the population.
BTW- I have great respect for most Christians and the religion of Christianity in general. It is not my path, but I do not mind if others follow it. But that was not your question.
Expertless- I do not mean t.v. shows when I say shoving your beliefs down our throats. I mean the people who approach me in stores, restaurants and at my home and refuse to leave when I tell them I am not interested in being "saved." I mean the Fundamentalists who feel the need to answer questions about other religious practices (such as Catholic baptizm) by telling the people not to do it because it is against the Bible. I mean the snide remarks they make such as atheists will find out they were wrong when they are burning in Hell. Little things like that.

Some thoughts...
Hitler was a religious God fearing man. Yes I found him upsetting.
Churchill didn't attend church and drank and smoked enough for five people. I think he was a good role model.
People who believe in and are only accountable to some higher power are scary to those of us that believe that the Supreme Court is the highest court in the (US) land.
Curiously most of my Christian neighbors own guns whilst the two that admit to being agnostic/atheist don't.
If God created all people then only people who don't understand the true nature of God can align themselves with a religion and therefore against other religions or people.
By definition all Christian's are bigots because they believe non-Christian's are going to hell. Especially the current Pope. That probably applies to Muslim's too and several other religions too.

Christians make up 75% of this country. Perhaps your definition of Christian varies, but according to most, all you need to do is accept Jesus, and i would say that most "Christians" do accept Jesus. Therefore, you are the majority. You are the ones in control, and you know it.
Stop acting like you're persecuted. We voice our opinion, you cry persecution. Stop trying to force "prophecies" to become true. It's the mindset you're in. You think you're persecuted, than you will truly believe it. It's simply mind over insanity.

The nature of man is to seek the darkness. It is comforting to be able to hide their evil. When they see those who walk in the light, their own darkness is threatened. Just as we are envious of those who have more than us, those in the shadow are envious of those in the Light. The sins which imprison us are a comfort and anything which threatens that comfort is perceived as a threat to our being. However, our souls seek the Light. Just as we are confronted by our own laziness and lack when we see someone with plenty, we are convicted our sin when we see someone in the Light. The answer is to not hate those who have what we have not, but to ask ourselves, "What am I doing wrong?" We may not like what answers come from that search, but we will find a better way through them. If they have Jesus, wouldn't you just be better off accepting Jesus and the change that comes with it? Most folks are cowards, and resent their own cowardice, projecting that resentment on the brave.
In short, human nature - God made us that way so that our choice for him would mean that much more.

Yes, but born again Christians bigots have an ability to hate and belittle unchallenged in our country. They consistantly tell people they are "going to hell" unless they bow to the born again Christians, and shout their all Hails....

not to contradict you but actually U2 is somewhat Christian and I heard Bono talk about his spirituality in an interview. That band is quite popular.
But otherwise I really agree with you.

I get tired of the atheists parroting each other with, "they try to shove their religion down our throat". Oh please. If you see a preacher on TV and he preaches the gospel, just turn it. If you would be honest it is doubtful that anyone has done that to any of you but a few. I think they are angry because we believe and they choose not to.
