Why can't gay men donate blood? Straight men and women, bisexual men and women and lesbian women can all get HIV/AIDS also. It makes no sense to single out gay men any more. Besides all that, the screening is so good that any contaminated blood is discarded anyway. So why the discrimination?

There is no reason for a gay person not to donate blood. Gay people can be perfectly healthy can't they? I think it was because of that epidemic way back when the outbreak of HIV/AIDS occurred. It's kind of ridiculous when they are paranoid about something they don't have to be rather than worrying about someone who is in dire need of a blood transfusion. They need to wake up and realize that since we now have more knowledge on these diseases, people could be more careful.

I'm really shocked to hear that. It's ridiculous!! What is this ;1907?! Do you know if that's the law in every state? I think it's absolutely nuts!! I'd say not to tell them you're gay, but why should you have to do that, right? If you really want to donate for the money or just because it's a good thing to do, then don't tell them. That's up to you. :)
