It's the divinely inspired words that God wanted us to know. They are the words that told us of Jesus before He came in the flesh and lived among men.
They are the words that bring life to some, and death to others.

Religious people tend to believe that God spoke the world into existence and that he later inspired people to write his words down in scripture.
Do you prefer to get your information direct from the source or second-hand?
Religions rely on interpreting scriptures which have been passed down through the generations for centuries. Science relies on interpreting the world, especially those aspects of it which have never been altered by humans.
Anyone who wants to learn the truth about God should look to science. Not to religion.
