My boyfriend has terrible teeth. Some would call it meth mouth, and yes he did smoke meth for a few months quite a few years ago. When he lived with his mom he drank nothing but soda and when he lived with his dad he drank nothing but juice. He rarely drinks water, and his teeth are overly-sensitive to heat and cold. His teeth are basically rotting off, and on the top he has ONE full tooth- which wouldn't be if he didn't have a tooth-colored filling on it. He has 6 full teeth on the bottom and recently got a bottom denture but never uses it because it hurts his gums. On the top his upper teeth break at the snap of a finger - he was eating crushed up peanut butter granola bars and it broke one of his front teeth. It destroys his self-esteem, and I can't help but feel terrible about it. An employer won't even hire him because of his teeth - and we have an 8 1/2 week old son together. He nor his parents can afford to fix it for another 18+ months. What can I do to make him feel better?

And he has consistent toothaches that are pretty much resistant to even prescription pain killers. They keep him up at night and have even brought him to his knees in tears.

When he got his bottom teeth extracted they had him on a 10 day cycle of penicillin after every extraction to kill and prevent infection.

Well tell him that no matter how he looks, you love him and that's all that should matter. You love him. there's not a single person in this world who's opinion should matter but those of who you care about. And if they keep messing with him, tell him to tell them to go screw themselves and come back when they are mature enough to put their immature insults a side and have a professional conversation with him.

As far as the teeth breaking go it is because there isnt enough support in the back teeth from what you have said that causes the teeth to break. Its the chewing force not necessarily the type of food. As for the denture hurting, if he got them made wen he just got the extractions done, they would probably need relining. Even a dental lab technician can do this to keep the cost down. As for the pain at night, he would either need root canal therapy or extractions. From what you have said abouth his meth habit and if the teeth are in as bad a condition as you say it might be better to get them extracted and get a partial denture around the stronger teeth. When your'll are more financially stable he can look at having some implants placed to retain the denture or even a fixed denture which is a more expensive but looks like natural teeth.
Good Luck

Just keep encouraging him and remind him that it won't be too much longer until they can get his teeth fixed. I would go to a dentist and ask if they know of any place that may help for a low price. I know sometimes people give money to hospitals for people who can't afford doctors, maybe it is the same way with dentists. I would check on that. someone knows something, and there is always help

YOU can't make him feel better, he has to make the effort himself. If his lower plate hurts it's because he hasn't worn it enough, he should get some of the soft liners and wear them. As for his upper teeth, he obviously needs them out and an upper plate made. But most of all he needs them out....I'd check into a local college of dentistry, they'd probably extract his teeth for a reduced price. He should probably also be on antibiotics because the decay can travel his blood stream to the brain, then he's got real problems.

have him go door to door asking people to paint their address numbers on curbs for six dollars.i make about twenty an hour doing that part time. and then he can save his money to have implants or dentures that fit.he needs to have those rotten teeth pulled, call around to see if theirs a clinic.try a homeless shelter .they know dentists who pull bad teeth usually Good luck

It's called actions and consequences. He did this to himself, now deal with it. Or isn't he man enough even to do that?
