I don't think so.
In the Religious World that we are living you need to re-think all the religious ideas that enter in your mind even before you were born. Been a true atheist is by far more difficult than accepting the religious fairy tales.
The more I learn the less I believe in supernatural entities.

With limited understanding many token atheists on R&S are shaped by conjecture and peer pressure. It's very much like dealing with a rebellous teen. United we stand for nothing. There are no debates, there is little exchange of ideas, only insults, a barrage of crass repugnant mocking, hurled at people of faith. I don't believe a true atheist would waste the hours away on yahoo engaging in ridicule. A true athiest's mind would be finite. There is no God - the end. I have to question whether many of the so called atheists with absurd avatars have a mind. God bless. Question that all you want.

All Homo sapiens are born without belief in God or gods.

The amazing thing is that most theistic people are convinced that the others who do not believe in God or gods are lacking something. They view atheism as a disease, like Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Small children are methodically programmed from their youngest years to believe in an invisible person, from an invisible place, who created everything from nothing.

Unless a person remains innocent from birth, the journey back to atheism almost certainly begins with a seed of doubt, a skeptical thought or a moment of critical contemplation.

Atheism simply means not theism.

Meaning everything other than belief in the existence of a god or gods.

That makes almost all things not theist or in other words atheist.

It can arise from ignorance and/or lack of proper knowledge concerning the alternatives. Misrepresentation (deliberate or unintended) of religious beliefs. A cult-like belief in an earthly leader, like what you see today in North Korea, It can arise from many things.

I doubt it. Even through traumatizing experiences, like being molested by a priest, will lead a mind to doubt and question. Afterall, everything of significance or importance in a person's life, has started with a doubt, a question, and curiosity.

It can arise from people looking for an excuse. An excuse to be lazy, reject God, not have to(or want to) go to Church, not to pray to or honor anything, an excuse to reject religion and excuse not to honor God. Seems like they are looking for an excuse not to keep some of the commandments that they don't really agree with or feel a little too confined by-cursing, a little theft, lies, adultery,... They evidently feel they are too smart to believe in a God that can create things and too smart to think that a God could love them so much that it cost His Son (Jesus) His life to earn and prove it. It's easy to believe in nothing. And that's what you'll get out of it...nothing. They're looking for excuses.

During the French Revolution (which took place during the height of the Enlightenment), many became atheists because they decided to reject religion altogether because of the hypocrisy of the French priests of the day.

I believe satan can nudge his way in any tiny little hole we may have. A kid is forced to go to church every sunday as a teenager, abuse by a religious leader or parent, prideful person, many things.

good question, as being raised that way is not TRUE atheism. Perhaps from being wronged, hounded or dogged by christendom...
