No, the usual reaction is to kick the dog then pick up a rock and throw it at the dog as hard as you can. This usually worked the couple of times I've seen it, one of the guys who I saw did this was drunk and chased the poor dog all over with rocks and had a pretty accurate arm for someone who's had a lot to drink.

Great question!

In some cases you must fight and your point of hitting in the nose does work and I had a close friend that was a mail man that was injured when attacked by a dog a few years back. He hit the German Sheperd in the nose (I would try and attack the eyes too)

Note-the Humane Society said it may have saved some kids from injury.

From last January Crime: Information and Prevention on the incidence, severity and frequency of dog attacks. Key quote:

In the US alone, there's almost 5,000,000 dog bite victims a year, roughly 2% of the entire population. Of these, about 800K victims needed to seek out medical attention. About 1,000 dog bite victims per day, need treatment in hospital
emergency rooms. Of these victims, between 15 to 28 die every year. Of the victims who get medical attention, most are children and half of them are bitten in the face.

Monetary losses resulting from dog bites are over $1 billion a year, with about 1/3 being paid by insurance. (Hmmm...who's paying for the other $670 million?)

Also You want to not move quickly slowly forward-leaning body language and moving directly in towards the dog, making direct eye contact.

However, make sure that the dog has an easy way to turn and escape. If he feels cornered, you're in big trouble. (This technique relies on using the dog's psychology.) [Although this technique will work very often, there is still a good chance that you may get bit. Better to stay still and call for help, or back away slowly until you can get to an object that will help separate you from the dog.]

boy what a Great question!

A dog's nose is a fragile thing, very small bones. But if it has its teeth in you I would expect striking it would cause you more pain. I am sure Michael Vick could answer this from first hand experience.

If I had to attack a dog’s nose, I think I’d try a downward strike on the bridge of the nose before I allowed it to bite me. Basically a shuto or hammer fist. But dogs are quick, there’s a good chance you’ll miss, and then they will be on you.

If you do have to fight a dog, (I have unfortunately) don’t let it get your arms. Let it bite your leg, then use both arms to grapple with its jaw and neck and work the bite loose. Then lift it off the ground by its head. After that they are fairly neutralized.

i don't think of you are able to in basic terms blame Halloween for her habit. i could say that is in all probability her nature, temperament and shortage of socialization and preparation (i'm sorry if i'm incorrect approximately this) or the aggregate of it. Plus, she's 10 months old meaning she's in puberty now. Her hormones are severe, she's rebellious and desires to be the boss. it is the place you are able to desire to step with some perfect preparation. that's the final you get a help from a consultant dogs coach/behaviorist who would be waiting to be sure what's inflicting her to act like this and connect such habit. i does not provide up on her yet because of the fact she's nevertheless incredibly youthful and he or she will nevertheless come around and start up off appearing such as you prefer her to with the superb preparation of direction. yet determine you do it as quickly as achievable, because of the fact she's a great dogs and would easily harm somebody. besides, if she keeps appearing like this she could in basic terms be a burden to you on the grounds which you heavily isn't waiting to take her everywhere, it does not be risk-free for somebody to come back over... So, get a coach asap and start up off fixing the priority. purely wait and spot and persistant! reliable success!

I have been chased by a dog before when I was about 17. Right when he was about to jump and clamp down on my arm, I side stepped and locked in a rear naked choke. He kicked a lot and tore up my forearms with his back claws, but he eventually went to sleep. Right after I felt him go limp, I got up and ran away.

Fighting dogs isn't something I recommend. Eventually, they'll get you.

I got bitten on the face by a German Shepard when i was 9yrs old, i can still remember it clear as day, it happened so fast ,really bloody fast!! unprovoked! ,the top K9 latched on just under my eye socket and the lower one up under my jawline, i was only a white belt at the time and i was out matched, either way i wouldn't recommend you try and punch it in the nose.
