Isn't praying to Jesus like worshiping a false idol?

Question

I mean, he's not God. He's the son of God. I read in another question where a girl said, "there is only one God and that is Jesus Christ".

It seems like a lot of Christians put so much emphasis on Jesus that they forget about God.

Actually, Jesus IS God.

Have you ever heard this traditional Christian doxology being sung?
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

We believe in ONE God who is a trinity, three persons in one: God the Father, God the Son (that's Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost).

In Genesis 1:26, God said, "Let US make man in OUR image." (emphasis added).

Jesus existed as God eternally, even before He was born on earth as a human. God became fully man in order to live a human life perfectly without sin, and then offer Himself up as an atoning sacrifice in our place. When Jesus died on the cross, God the Father poured out all His wrath toward sinners onto God the Son. After three days, Jesus rose from the dead and later ascended into heaven.

Salvation comes at a heavy cost, one that people are not able to pay. What person can be 100% perfect to please a Holy God who is a consuming fire? That is why God, who loved us more than life, made a way for us to return to restored relationship with Him through Jesus.

We are not able to be saved by our own efforts; we can never be good enough. Anyone who admits their sin and accepts Jesus as their Lord, personally accepting His substitutionary atonement for us on the cross, becomes saved and sealed with God's Holy Spirit. This is the way to heaven.

As further proof from Scripture that Jesus is God:
(John 8:57-59)
"You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to Him, "and you have seen Abraham!"
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I Am!" At this, they picked up stones to stone Him, but Jesus hid Himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

In Exodus 3:15, God told Moses His Name was "I Am." The Jewish leaders understood that Jesus was claiming to be God by saying this, and that's why they wanted to stone Him for blasphemy, because they didn't believe Him.

Read the Book of John, chapter one (fourth Gospel in the New Testament). This makes the deity of Jesus very plain.

Jesus is also referred to as the Son of God and the Son of Man. He has many titles, including, as you may have heard in the song from "Handel's Messiah": "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." That's a quote from Isaiah 9:6 in the Old Testament predicting the Messiah's birth.

I believe in Jesus because He is the Truth.

I am thinking that your head stripes are on too tight -- they're apparently doing bad things to your circulation. Jesus *is* God and the Son of God. Worshipping any idol is a sin because they are all false substitutes for the living and true God. Jesus never told anyone who worshipped Him not to do so, and if it had been sinful, He would have stopped them right away. If they were in the wrong and He allowed them to worship Him, He would not have been the sinless and perfect Sacrifice for our sins. So if He accepted the worship of those whom He cured or helped back then, it's not wrong to worship Him now.

Read the book of John. Jesus is cast as the Son because he was birthed from a woman. Yet God is a Spirit and it was that Spirit that inhabited that body of Jesus. It was not another spirit. God is casted as a father because he created all things. It's titles only used to describe God showing himself many ways. So, praying to Jesus, is praying to God who came down in flesh. Our finite minds have a hard time with this since God is omnipotent and omnipresent. It would have defeated the purpose for God to come down all majestic. This way, as the Bible says, "he was touched with our infirmities.." he came down and took on our feeble form and overcame it so that we too might overcome. I hoped that helped.

Jesus said that through Him we get to the Father. We must pray to God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, Example, Heavenly Father, thank you for..... Help me with.....(in closing) in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Messiah is the Son of The Almighty. Read Matthew Mark luke and John, BUt REMEMBER THE old testament is still valid, just are the new testament is valid. He teaches HIS Fathers Words. The bible is the bread of life. ALL the answers are in THERE.

You are misinformed. Jesus is God and was God from all eternity. He made that pretty obvious during His time on earth, by constantly doing things only God can do.

John tells us that "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God". Later we read this reference to Jesus again when we are told that "The Word became flesh, and dwelt among us".

Certainly, because Jesus can not do good or bad to anybody. He is created by God, almighty. Jesus was a teacher sent by God to mankind to teach his followers the right humanly behavior.

Jesus and God are two different things... The bible is mixing peoples minds. First, god was jesus' dad, and now god is jesus? It's quite sad.
