I've wondered about this same question myself.
Is it a difference in power? I don't think so, if this were so, an advanced alien species could rightly be called gods. If you're familiar with Stargate, think Gou'ald.
Is it a creator? Again, I don't think so. For one, I don't believe in a creator god, and also, Gippetto is not god to Pinochio.
I think what makes gods is perception. If we are willing to submit to something as god, then it is to us.

Perception.
God can only exist to humans as a concept of the mind.
This does not imply that God is not real, only that God can only exist within the concious minds of humans.
Does God exist in the minds of animals?
Trees?
God has many aspects.
Some of these we cannot yet fit within our brains.
As we evolve we will think more of God.
What I mean is there will be more God to think of.
Why do you not answer your own question which seems more like a survey. Everyone has some kind of concept of God. This is what you are asking for from everyone, so you should also present your own rather than seeming as though you are farming for a new concept.
No offense intended, just stated observation with non-biased opinion.

Good question, but the answer lies within us humans. Our concept of God is as varied as our religion.
There is no definitive answer. If there would be only one world religion..
The most accepted answer right now is that God is what created the earth.
This God is the God of the Old Testament, which is accepted by Judiesm, Chatholic Christianity, and Islam.
That is the current definition of God.

That depends on the qualities you believe God possesses.
I worship God, I believe in Him without any doubt, and I am willingly calling myself a slave of Him and that He is my owners and master.
What kind of God deserves this? A chapter from the Quran describes my belief perfectly: "He is God, the One. The Self-Sufficient Master. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And ther is none co-equal or comparable to Him." (Quran, 112:1-4). I believe that God is all-powerful (has power and authority to do anything and everything), and free of any needs (sleep, food, etc.). I believe He is the all-knowing and almighty being, above everything.
If there was a god that NEEDS us to worship him, needs to eat food or rest, does not know everything, finds anything a challenge to him, is dependable on his creations, or is not in control of everything... I don't believe such god deserves to be worshipped.

That is a very loaded question, the only way I can answer that one is to say this....
God, Jehovah, Brahm, Kali, Brigit, Zeus, Odin, Saturn, Allah, Vishnu, Hera, Freya....all these names are just personifications of the idea that makes the most sense to them, it's a method people have used since they were living caves to try to identify with the power that creates life, death, rebirth and the whole marvellous jewel of existence. Faith is what makes us closer to that power. Faith and Trust....but with trust you can't just do it blindly...after all..you can only trust a scorpion to be a scorpion...if you blindly pick it up it will sting you. A good site for Faith based research is www.beliefnet.com they can explain it better for you there...I suck at this :)

Understanding god must be experiential and not conceptual. Until you know the difference then the question is meaningless.
Read A Course in Miracles or The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle if you want clarification.
