S Chicken Fat?
We all know that chicken soup is good for you. We eat it when we're sick. Does anybody know why? Is it because of the chicken fat or something else? I heard that chicken fat is very good for you. Before I heard it I always took the fat off when I made a chicken soup because I am trying to be on a low fat diet, but then if there is not fat in the soup what is the point of it? Or maybe I can just leave the fat in it? For sure it would have a much better flavor with the fat in it! So, does anybody know the answer? Thanks!

Animal fats usually have very good nutrition. Moderation is key word and I'll tell you that if you ate straight chicken fat and not hot dogs and hamburgers, you would still be eating healthier. Have you seen the back label of a hot dog package... Makes me wonder....

Corn oil is very bad, so don't eat fried chicken. Normal chicken preferably baked in the oven is very nutritional. Through a good portion of my grand dad's life he ate a form of chicken or pork fat (natural) almost every morning. My grand dad never was obese, never had heart problems, and lived to be a healthy 90 year old, who walked all the way up until the end.

chicken contains a certain amount of tryptophan which is a mild sedative. also just the fact that you are ingesting a hot liquid when you are ill will make you feel better and breathe better, so any soup will do this for you. the fat has nothing to do with it so go ahead and keep skimming for a healthier bowl of soup. try putting a little star anise seed in your chicken soup for a delicious flavor and even more cold curing capabilities.

I personally think it is the salt in chicken soup that makes it good for you. Salt is a natural healing agent, so I think it helps your throat and stuff heal. It also has loads of good for you nutrients and is easy to swallow and digest
