Since it is NOT winter ~ the static comes from the silicone in your shampoo & conditioner. Switch to one that doesn't have this ingredient. You will see a big difference.

how about something simpler.. such as a fabric softener.... lol every one is right about the shampoo but if you like it when you hair is dry just rub a fabric softener sheet on your hair and your static will be gone... This also work with thread that gets stuck in fabric. If you pull the needle and thread through a fabric sheet first you wont' have any problems with the static and getting stuck in the fabric.

You can also get a can of Static Guard (it's sold on the laundry aisle) and spray it lightly on your brush before you brush your hair. But if you brush your hair a lot, the static will return.

As the first person said its often whats in the shampoo. try a stripping shampoo to get all the crap off your hair left by other shampoos.
I have a small bottle of neutrogena anti residue shampoo I used once in awhile.

Use a shampoo and conditioner for dry hair.
