How come some people will not learn the Bible?

Here is a passage in Proverbs that says there are four wonderful things, and one of those is "the way of a man with a maid". (Proverbs 30:19)

I myself am a man, well-dressed and debonair or whatever, and I wanted a way with a maid in a hotel, in a nice way, and I got in trouble, and I quoted them the scripture verse, and they didn't even want to hear it. They acted like they had never heard of the Bible before.

Question: Why are some people like that?

Those of you who answered by saying bad things about me, I pee in your general direction.

Maybe because of verses like this:

Exodus 21:20-21 – "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property."

So what is the way of a man with a maid? Does that mean you need to pitch in and help her dust the room? Thats the way of the maid, (maid's work). Maybe you could clean the toilets and dump the trash cans.

If you want to help the maids so much, maybe you need to wear one of those liittle frilly white caps and aprons. Probably the management didn't want you working out of uniform there.

Why not reverse your question......How come people learn the Bible? It is a pretty boring piece of literature. No one knows if it is really true, it is just faith alone, and not my faith. You Bible thumpers really have to go somewhere else and get a life. I understand you were raised with it, but a lot of us were not, so get past yourself there, bud. You people are starting to infest the Answers area like a bunch of roaches. I suggest if it is so important, you spend most, if not all of your time at Church mastering something and wasting your life on something that is not proven non-fictional reading material. If I get 100 thumbs down for this, I still wouldn't change a word of my post.

The Hebrew definition for the word "Maid",used in Proverbs 30:19 is not servant. The maid in the hotel,evidently,did learn the Bible...and you did not get "Lucky"

The Bible says that Satan “keeps transforming himself into an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14) He can even fabricate portents and then make them come true, deceiving onlookers into thinking that the omen is from God. (Compare Matthew 7:21-23).. Thats why.

Maybe because the woman felt harassed, and she then went to her managment? Sexual harassment is a big issue anywhere (mostly) and she may have felt that you were coming on to her or something. They didn't want to hear the excuse because they thought it was just that, an excuse. Pervs will say anything to get out of something (not calling you a perv but maybe they had an incident before and they used that excuse?)

Because the world is more complicated and so are it's problems and they just like myself don't immerse themselves in that which is for the simple minded who can't even discern the violence, murder and dictatorial hypocrisies along with it's "contradictions" in all they call
"holy." I am of faith, but NOT of this "God."
