People that believe in God constantly say God is love.
Seems to me it would be more appropriate to say love is God. That's how I feel. Love is my god. And if God exists, and is love, then I am doing God justice.

Does this fit in with your own beliefs? Why or why not?

God is everything, the great nothing (sustaining all things) from all things are born and to which all things return.

Well, I guess that is hard to answer because love is a word that has been twisted a lot, plus, it has many meanings. In the Bible itself there are I think 3 different words that have been translated "love" There's fileo (I don't know how to spell these Greek / Hebrew words) which is brotherly love, eros - romantic love - and agape - God's perfect unconditional love.

Then we say we love pizza, we love our pets, we love certain movies or music..... Some of the things we say we love are sinful in God's eyes. Guys say they love a girl so she'll sleep with him....

That word is just way too open to different interpretations and uses, so I'll have to say I would not reverse the statement.

I would have to say that, at least from my standpoint, you are on very solid ground.
GOD is the great mystery - the Creator - we can't know or understand. But we know that what has been created must be loved by it's creator, so GOD loves us.
GOD is love and Love is GOD; you are definately doing GOD justice.
You are truly a sweet soul, and I am very happy to have found your posting here today. Thank you!

God is love means that God loves. Not that love is God becuase love didnt make the universe. I do still think that love is important.

Idoltry is forbidden?? Then why is Jesus an Idol? Think about it.

I think that's a beatiful statement but I think it's more along the lines of...spread love and you spread God. KNOW in your heart and soul that YOU are God's child, and just spread that light around. You don't even have to be a preacher, just be GOOD and loving. It's so simple.

That's basically what I believe. God is love, spreading love is worshipping God in a way. I don't pray, or take sacraments, or whatever.

For me this is so true.....i think that as long as i try to practice this with everyone...(yes, even those who annoy me,lol) then it has been a good day.
For me, the term" God" refers to an omnipotent being that is full of patience and love....not to mention tolerance, and a very wry sense of humor at times!
Good to see u online again!

Love is only one attribute of God. He is all that is, not just Love. Love cannot be God only, because God created Love? Right?

there is lot of difference between worldy love and divine love, which is eternal.Of course love is GOD provided it is eternal, divine, full of bliss, moreover love is the true reflection of divinity which is always distributed among all,it never need's to be begged from any one, since eternal love always flows out of the brim, thus one could't

restrict it's selfless distribution.but one must remember thru the core of heart........all is HIS,not mine,mi,i am....since HE HAS chosen one as a tool to represent HIM
