If you are just looking for sparkling wine, then there are many varieties on the market which you can get from under USD$10/£5 - but note that these are not from the Champagne region in France which supposedly reserves exclusive rights to the use of the name. Hence names like Vins Moussex, Spumante from Italy, Cava from Spain or Sekt from Germany or even the American versions.
However since its a wedding reception and ifyou feel you need to be particular and want to impress, go look in your local/online wine retailer for Non Vintage Brut Champagnes. They are the cheapest and yet retains the exclusivity of the branding.
Good luck!

Some non-vintage bruts at a good value are Bollinger Special and Cuvee, which is a solid brand, very full-bodied. It goes for about $30. I hate to give a price because the price is going to be all over the place, depending on where you are.
Gratien is another (good) one; their Brut Classic goes for about $25 to $30. Also recommended are Heidsieck and Co. Blue Top Brut, which goes for about $25; Philipponat, a very good one (which) you can get for $20 to $25; Pol Roger; and Cattier and Henri Abbele, which go for around $20. Those are some good inexpensive Champagnes. I'll drink to that!

i could say have a constrained time bar. Have an open bar from say 6-9 or regardless of the hours are; not all night. additionally, distinctive places are extra comparatively inexpensive in case you do not have the reception on a Sat. Buffet type dinners are additionally extra comparatively inexpensive then sit down dinners additionally for the bar you're able to do beer and wine basically so no frustrating liquor is in touch. that's what i'm doing for my reception. that's regularly extra comparatively inexpensive and individuals maximum in all probability won't get hammered as promptly.

When I worked in a bar the best champagne for the buck was Frexinet. we bought the splits (small bottles) for $1 and resold them for $5. They have a cork and pop just like the big bottles but there is much less waste and champagne going flat. You get 2 flutes per bottle so you can go by the number of guests and multiply by 2-3 bottles and you will have enough for everyone.

My favorite sparkling wine isn't champagne at all, but an Italian varietal called Moscato d'Asti. It's relatively inexpensive compared to champagne and quite sweet - very easy to drink if you have people who aren't experienced wine drinkers.

Mumm Napa's Cuvee M with blue label. Should run you about $15 per bottle. WE serve it a lot at wine tasting events in the napa valley and it is always the most popular sparkling served. it is not to bitter, not too sweet and very peaches and cream tasting.

Freixenet is pretty good, not too expensive and comes in an attractive black bottle.
Freixenet Cordon ***** Brut is about $10/bottle.
I've attended many weddings that served Freixenet.
