Coast Guard or Army would be your best bet

As an EMT - particularly if you have EMT-P certification - you can easily land in any of the service branch's Corpsman units.

Trauma medicine is a fact of life in the military, and they will probably send you a long way toward getting your doctorate so that an MD after the service would be within your reach.

Good luck.

The Coast Gaurd would be the best if you're interested in staying in the US. They need rescue medics and the like for helicopter, water, and land rescue operations.

You could also join the Navy as Corpsman, or any other branch as a corpsmen for that matter. That would be over fighting in Iraq.

I am currently a lab tech in the US Army. I have worked with former EMTs and they were deployed just as readily as anyone else. The bottom line is that when the Army (and I'm assuming other military branches) needs you to go somewhere, they'll send you when and where you are needed.

Try the coast guard.

They are out there to save people and use EMT's all the time. Plus there is another bonus you dont have to worry about getting blown to hell in Iraq.

Landon--there is a war going on and soldier and marines get hurt. The best training you will ever receive in the world is in the military. Highly recommend you join...
