Im just curious, because they say with excess bilirubin your skin/eyes take on a yellow tint, so is that what makes your pee yellow?

nope. urine is yellow because of the waste products your kidneys filter out of your blood stream and some plasma. The jaundice caused by elevated billirubin is a liver problem, not related at all.

The yellow color comes from bile.
Bile is a chemical that’s made, in your gall bladder, to help break down food (especially fatty foods). When tiny bits of food are absorbed into the bloodstream some bile gets absorbed too.
When the bile mixes with your blood it has a chemical reaction which turns it from brown into the yellow color which colors your urine.
Bilirubin is a brownish yellow substance found in bile. It is produced when the liver breaks down old red blood cells. Bilirubin is then removed from the body through the stool (feces) and gives stool its normal brown color.
So no bilirubin is not really what colors your urine yellow.

I'm not sure but I know that if you have excess bilirubin your urine will be a deeper yellow (at least that's the case with animals)
