It's a sign of the Covenant between God and His people, Israel. You can read it in the Hebrew Bible.
Like so many Jewish commandments, the brit milah is commonly perceived to be a hygienic measure; however the biblical text states the reason for this commandment quite clearly: circumcision is an outward physical sign of the eternal covenant between G-d and the Jewish people. It is also a sign that the Jewish people will be perpetuated through the circumcised man.

Who cares about religion baby. Chicks love it and I thank my parents daily. It is also meant to be far more hygenic, once you have it without the hat you wont go back.
Smart comments aside how about the hidious religions that circumsize women, rendering them to a life without pleasure and often done with rusty razor blades and sewn up. Child birth is an event made even more agonizing because the hole is sewn up smaller.
I should be thankful I do not remember having it done as it is done for boys just after birth(I speak for myself). But these girls are around the age of ten or older.
I think the super model Naomi Campbell was one such high profile women who has personal experience of this.

Circumcision was a custom of the old testament taught by Moses that represented cleanliness and we are all familiar with the term "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." People do so now days more or less as tradition or simply for hygienic reasons. It is not mandatory for a child to be circumcised. For a more detailed explanation I would ask a well learned pastor or priest. :)

The God Yahweh had a situation while He created us present day human beings to genetically keep the foreskin from transforming into on the male human penis. So He had to revert to plot B which replaced into to have us human beings manually get rid of it after beginning or as an person. It replaced into constantly for helping keep the unfold of STD's to a minimum among the human beings of His u . s . a . at a time while human beings had no thought what STD's have been. Yahweh continues to be involved by circumcision at present for male human beings as He replaced into back then. additionally Yahweh never meant for lady human beings to be circumcised for any reason and that it replaced into constantly a synthetic ritual.

It was instituted by God to Abraham in the book of Genesis. The flesh of the people of God is to be cut away. In Ezekiel God wants our hearts to be circumcized. It was a symbolic act God wanted for us to submit by a sacrifice to show our submission of ourselves to Gods will. As far as religious reasons go if you don't have a change of heart toward God it does no good. Jesus said the flesh profits nothing. God is a Spirit so He must be worshipped in Spirit and truth. If that is not the case then circumcision, baptism, communion and so on are just wasted on self righteous ideals.
As for practical reasons it is easier to clean. I suppose.

I don't think there really are any religious reasons - it's a cultural thing. It is rare in civilised countries, with the one big exception being the USA for some reason, but I expect that in due course non-consensual genital mutilation of either sex will be illegal everywhere, and a very good thing too.

The best explanation I've heard was this:
Circumcision is a reminder to a man that even at the most personal moments in his life (sex and, well....) he is not alone, but he belongs to God. It is an external symbol, but it is not a symbol for everyone else to see, like a tatoo or a piercing. It is between the man and God alone. (Of course this is in the context of ancient culture, where your identity was not yours alone, but also bound up in that of your parents and clan; that's why they could make such a huge statement on your behalf - "You belong to God, whether you like it or not!")
Peace to you.

it's part of Jewish and Muslim religion. I don't know exactly where it says to do so but it's good. All boys should be circumcised there are so many benefits and very few reasons not to. Elephant trunks are for elephants not people

Read the Holy Bible if you really want the answers. I suggest a New Living Translation, which is written in plain modern English.
