Seedless watermelons are special hybrids that are genetically incapable of reproducing. Two varieties are crossed to produce hybrid seed. These seeds are grown but because of genetic differences they cannot produce viable seed of their own. To grow them they must be pollinated with another variety of melon. When the flower is pollinated the plant grows a fruit like it normally would but the seeds do not develop. Most seed companies include seed of a pollinator, usually Sugar Baby with the seed of the seedless variety.

Well, seedless watermelons aren't COMPLETELY seedless... they have the little light seeds you're allowed to swallow, just not the big black ones. It's messed with in the genes of the plant, probably so that the little seeds inside it don't grow into the big black ones... ;)

this is grown from seedless watermelon seeds in solar-warmed soil with somewhat help from the bees. Watermelon breeders got here across that crossing a diploid plant (bearing the popular 2 contraptions of chromosomes) with a tetraploid plant (having 4 contraptions of chromosomes) leads to a fruit that produces a triploid seed. (confident, it has 3 contraptions of chromosomes). This seed grows fruit that infrequently develops seeds, in spite of the reality which you will be able to discover some empty white seed coats. The melon's flesh is extra impregnable because of the fact the generic softening of the fruit around the seeds would not ensue. -- you're welcome :)

Farmers buy the seeds from a National company that sells seeds of all kinds. You can buy seedless watermelon seeds from them. They are in seed catalogues, and you have to order them by mail.

There are actually seeds in seedless watermelon, but they're small, white and edible - so they call it seedless. It's a misnomer.
